This is a good hotel. Yes, it is old, and so are more than half of the hotels in Rio de Janeiro. The rate? Heck, everything in Rio is expensive? Tell me, what hotel in Rua Sousa de Lima goes below R$ 400? Right?! Besides, why would anyone wants to spend so much time in hotel in Rio?!? The max... More

We stayed here for one night in April 2012. the rooms were way overpriced so we were quite disapointed when we saw our room. breakfast was really good in fairness. The reception staff had a very strange manner and one of them was very rude when we asked advice about where to stay. definitely give this place amiss and stay... More

We stayed here one night and it was acceptable but not recommended. It seems that the attempt to modernize the place was done as cheaply as possible. Some new granite in the rooms, but the shower is old and weak. Air conditioner unit is old and nosiy. rooms are dark but spacious. breakfast is also just ok. the location is... More

This hotel was nice. It wasn't particularly amazing but good location, large rooms, clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent and the concierge also took us on a city tour (extra cash for him, cheap personal tour for us). Had a wonderful time but if you want luxury you might want to spend a bit more. It was value for... More

I stayed at the standard room and I got a room with no window that smelled like humidity, i complained and they told Me that was what i payed for! I had to change rooms and pay an extra fee for something a bit more acceptable. Reception is old and ugly, service could be better. Breakfast and location are the... More

Lovely. Adequate. Luxury. Exactly what I need. It is not modern - I would prefer - but the service, the smell, the restaurants, everithing is good. You can forget the age of the decoration. More

Paid over £100 here for one night, understandable during Carnival though. It was comfortable but extremely dated and very basic, didn't look like anything had been replaced since the 70s. Much of their lighting and electricity points didn't work correctly. Very clean though and the front desk staff and bellboy were very friendly and helpful. More

The hotel is well located, has a top floor with a small pool and nice view. The rooms are small but fine, since you are not in Rio to be at your hotel room anyway. Breakfast is good and service is also good. The negative aspects are the small and unconfortable bed and the noises from AC and other rooms.... More
