We stayed here in November 2011. It took the staff a while to get us into our room, which was average by all acounts - medium-sized, not particularly enticing as far as furniture etc. go, but clean and decently comfortable still. The hotel is well located to explore La Serena - the city's central square is within walking distance, as... More

We really enjoyed staying at the Costa Real. The staff were very helpful in all areas. Our room was facing the street but we didn't find this a problem - mainly because we are accustom to traffic noise!! The restaurant was lovely and breakfast was ok. For us Aussies we do like better cereals than are on offer in Chilean... More

The hotel was immaculate. Rooms may be a little tired by US standards but still acceptable. We had a king bed, and all rooms have a modern flat-panel TV. No in-room coffee, no clock radio. They did have a mini fridge (mini bar). I needed to have a shirt ironed. Although they do not have irons/ironing boards, I was able... More

I was not impressed by my latest stay at the Costa Real (last time was 6 years ago). Despite asking for a quiet room I was put in a very noisy one overlooking the main road junction at the front of the hotel. Closing the window reduced the noise slightly but makes for a very stuffy atmosphere in the height... More

We decided to travel to La Serena, and booked this hotel, after the earthquake in the central regions of the country. We could not go south to Pucon and Puerto Varas as we had planned. Once we arrived in LS, and saw the Costa Real, we knew that we would have a pleasant stay. This is smaller, upscale, modern facility,... More

stayed here for 3 days and we enjoyed this hotel very much. The room ov erlooked the pool area was clean and roomy. The location is excellent, within walking distance of all the attractions in the downtown and a short 5 minute ride to the beach. Service was excellent, nice bar and restaurant. Secure parking and very helpful staff. More

I have little experience with South America, so I can't compare countries, but here goes. La Serena is a delightful city, the second oldest in Chile, once an important seaport for the Spanish Empire. The city was founded in 1549, boasting architecture like churches and forts dating over 350 years. There is a hotel in El Centro, (downtown) called the... More

I don't have much to add besides what others said -- this is a fine hotel with good service. There is free wireless internet in the lobby only, but the connection can be fairly slow and sometimes intermittent. The bar is wonderful and they offer a complimentary welcome pisco sour. As is common in climates like La Serena, there is... More

After travelling through Bolivian Salar, this hotel was a life saver...it is less expensive than you would expect for a 5 star hotel, the breakfast is stellar, the accomodations excellent, clean, comfy and spacious and the staff extremely helpful. Strongly recommend to those accustomed to 5 star, or those simply needing a few days of stress free accomodation. More

Costa Real has a 4 Star lobby and public areas that would not go amiss in Santiago and ensures it stands above from the other hotel options in this small city. The bedrooms, like the public areas, are very clean and well kept, but less impressive - a bit small and the bathrooms are rather small. Do ask for room... More
