The hostal is not right in teh centre but only a few minutes walk away. And the great view from the rooftop terrace makes up for that! Very clean, nice rooms, comfy beds, nice own bathroom and very friendly encouraged staff. Given a map and recommendations on arrival. The kitchen the nicest I have come accross during my travels. Internet... More

Clean rooms, great views, nice kitchen, a place to do laundry where it'll actually dry--what more could you want out of a hostel? My wife and I have traveled through Latin America for about seven months, and Hostel Chasqui is the standard we judge other hostels by--it's the best we've found. If you're in Otavalo, you should stay here. Unless... More

Roberto, the owner is friendly, helpful, welcoming and runs a clean, extremely competitively priced hostel. Although its called Hostal, the rooms are actually private. The kitchen is clean and very well equipped, with the food market only 5-10 minutes walk away. Washing machine was available to use for free. Roberto gave us advice on local sights we wouldn't otherwise have... More

Had a great time here and the owner, Roberto, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Was able to get a 2nd floor single room with great views and hot shower for $9 a night. Couldn't recommend this place more. More

We had a really great stay at this hostal. Roberto, the owner, is one of the most charming hosts you could hope for. He is always happy to make suggestions and offer advice for things to do. It's a big hostel with loads of rooms but it's very chilled out and relaxing at the same time. If you want a... More

We stayed in Otavalo during 1 week and we would have liked to stay more or bring Roberto in each hostal. We felt so good in Chasqui hotel. Rooms and hotel are very clean, spacious, rooms are cleaned everyday, kitchen is really really good (we loved cooking there) and brand new. The view on Otavalo is amazing. Area is quiet... More

We only stayed there one night but it was good. Water hot, rooms clean and nice, nice staff. You have to ring the bell for service which is kind of strange and leads to a wait. The building is nice but a little way out of the populated part of town; the walk during the day is nice but at... More

We were a combined age group (50's & 20's) staying in the hostal. We spent two nites. The views of the Volcanoes were the most impressive thing about this stay. We found Sophia to be a very nice and helpful host. The hostal is away from the center of town, but the walk is not bad, except if you cannot... More

This is the best value hostel we stayed at in Ecuador. The rooms are spotless and the location can't be beat. If you are coming for the animal market in Otovalo, get up early (530am) and watch the farmers coming down the hill in front of the hostel with their cows, sheep, chickens etc. Roberto is the man, one of...
