OK, I've stayed in perhaps some of the greatest hotels in the World. Claridge’s in London, the Ritz Carlton Moscow, Montreux Palace, Umaid Bhawan Palace etc. etc. The Windermere isn't like any of these hotels, but that doesn’t mean its not great. Yes, its humble, a little old-school, but that what makes it the place it is. The service is... More

stayed here for two nights in March and were very impressed by the beautiful tea slopes surrounding this hotel but otherwise the accommodation was very average. The rooms were outdated in décor and seemed somewhat musty.and the hotel is situated out of Munnar. The restaurant is a replica "Swiss chalet" and seems quite out of place here. The food is a set price... Our group were welcomed by a member of this family owned hotel and given lots of information about the hotel. There is a lovely dining room, with a few tables outside. They serve delicious food here, the best we had in Kerala. There is not a huge choice but I enjoyed everything served to me, not too spicy and various... More

After a wonderful welcome from the owners family we were taken to our lovely accommodation which was clean and spacious. It is a peaceful haven of a coffee and cardomom plantation set amongst tea plantations quite high in the western ghats. All of the staff were friendly, it is well kept and my opinion is that i loved every minute... More

Overall happy with the Winderemere resort. The location is a must for anyone travelling to Munnar as you can spend a whole day wondering round the grounds and taking nice pictures. The 2 hr complimentary plantation walk, tip - trainers are good, walking boots are even better. The on site tea shop was greatfor an afternoon drink, but I would... More

The view from our huge room and balcony was unobstructed but as another poster said, make sure you ask for a room that is not next to the construction project close by or you will be disappointed. No alcohol is served at this property.

We were warmly welcomed and were soon established in a very spacious first floor room with a double aspect balcony with fabulous views over the tea plantations. Excellent set dinners, but could be a problem for those wanting a more European cuisine. Extensive grounds to roam around, and although there is no pool (probably too cool most of the time)... More

Stayed there for 2 nights. Fairly basic bungalows, but very clean and eveything in good working order. Due to the high altitude and being there in January, it was very cold during the night, starting around 9 p.m. First night it knocked on our door and we were presented with hot water bottles to warm our beds. Lovely idea. Single... More

From the picture window by the bed or from the teak railed balcony in a circa early 60's US national park decor, with additional homey touches from Grandma...doilies on shelves and tables as well as framed embroidery on the wall. Planters Villa rooms are large with a sitting area and big bathroom. Rooms are not a/c and despite the altitude,... More

I loved this hotel for its beauty, peace, service and food. Arriving from kochin it was a cool relief and warm welcome. Dont miss the leisurely plantation walk/tea tasting to see surrounding land and meet other guests... The layout of the rooms in the grounds feels spacious although perhaps some more sound proofing could help! The staff were unfailingly helpful... More
