We hadn't planned to stay in Amritsar, but when the Pakistani boarder suddenly closed, we had to find a place to stay for the night. Amazing rooms in terms of size, location and friendliness of staff. Loved it! Read about the hotel in lonely plannet and booked it over phone. The registration was simple and easy. The resataurant was amazing and conveyance was available just outside the hotel. Being just 2 minutes from the station, travelling was also easy.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel 2 separate nights when passing through Amritsar. The hotel was convenient and relatively comfortable but old. Rooms are quite old but spacious. Good size room with AC and thick matras. Location is just across from the trainstation. They organize trip to the border and evening visit to temple. The bar next door is nice. Service in restaurant a bit slow and restaurant itselfs misses some atmosphere, it's just a couple of tables in the courtyard.

Large bedroom with AC and en suite, clean and basic. Food was expensive and not brilliant. Staff were helpful and organised our tour to the border. A calm escape from the busy, humid city outside. Wifi available but worked best in the hotel foyer. Travelled by auto rickshaw to and from the hotel which required a lot of haggling!

We came from Jammu and stayed at this hotel which is 2 minutes walking distance from the railway station and i must say it was a very pleasant stay here with my wife ... Bottoms Up Pub, part of the Grand Hotel, is an attractive cool place with sensuous but actually quite good wall paintings. An ideal spot for a quiet beer. I found the hotel thru TripAdvisor, and no dissapointment. The booking was easy - just a phone call the day before. The rooms are absolutely clean and quite good for the Indian standard.
