Elephantstay was a dream finally realised, to be up close, face to face, with an animal I have admired for years. To be able to ride bare back in to the river, learn how to scrub them, feed them, give them commands and clean up after them was an adventure I'll never forget. Yes accommodation was basic but a bed... More

Such a surreal experience to live and work with such dedicated staff who care so much about the elephants. The 7 days spent at Elephantstay was enriching and very hands on. The food was amazing, lots of camaraderie amongst interesting people. Well done and thanks Michelle and Ewa

My 18 year old daughter and I signed up for Elephantstay for a week ....big mistake - we should have stayed longer. A couple of hours out of Bangkok is a refuge for elephants which was established by a Thai gentleman named Pi Om about 14 years ago. He's put all his personal wealth into helping these rescued elephants. The... More

I had read a review in the newspaper about the great work done being done with rescued elephants at Elephantstay and decided to book to stay for a week. Wow. I cannot recommend this stay highly enough. Not only do you get up and close with the elephants (you get allocated your own elephant to look after which you ride... More

I have never had to write a negative review on Trip Advisor – I usually read other reviews and do a bit of wider research and have not previously been let down. Having said that there were some good things about our experience at ElephantStay. Let’s look at them first, We got to play with elephants, we got as close... More

in June 2010 we returned to Elephantstay for the second year in a row - this time for a week. The four of us (two adults 8 year old boy and 6 year old girl) had enjoyed the time there in 2009 so much we couldn't wait to return. The Elephantstay crew, from Michelle and Ewa, to the fabulous volunteers,... More

We spent 3 days, 2 nights at Elephantstay and had a fantastic time! The schedule is just enough to keep you interested while not being too busy. The breakfasts were yogurt/cereal in the morning, followed by an hour of cleaning up where the elephants stayed, (yes, raking some elephant dung). The mohuts help with everything, too. At 1130 was the... More

Truly the best thing that we have ever done in all the holidays that we have spent around the world. When planning a trip to Thailand, I wanted to spend time with elephants where I felt that they were well cared for and not exploited. I came across this place on the Internet and booked it, with a little trepidation,... More

Our family of 4 (including children aged 12 and 8) wanted a hands-on experience with Elephants. We dont mind getting back to basics and getting dirty, and we wanted to get involved (not just watch). We got all that and more at Elephant Stay. All of the wonderful people who work there made us feel a part of the place... More

Elephantstay is not a 5 star hotel but it does have many elephants. As a guest you are allocated and care for one of the older elephants including riding, washing and cleaning. It is a marvellous experience working with these gentle giants and seeing how they react to you. It was an unbelievable 3 days and is on the agenda... More
