We did go to Koh Phangan mainly on the recommendation of friends for the Full Moon Party but we found that the Holiday Beach Resort was (for us) a great place to stay. I can't understand why people don't love this place?! The communal area is comfy, has a tv with movies and some great food (panang curry is awesome).
