After leaving Nairobi this was our first hotel "on safari", and it was an exciting beginning. We saw elephants and cape buffalo on the drive up from Aberdares Country Club, but that was nothing to the show we had at the Ark. We hardly slept because the animals were so active and the viewing areas are so close to the... More

The Ark was fantastic. Eventhough it rained we saw lots of animals, even watch a couple cape buffalo fighting it out for number 1 spot. The food, service and the people were fantastic. We will defenetly go back and would suggest 2 nights. The rooms are bit small but they are all being redone (ours was andit was quite nice)... More

We absolutely loved the Ark! Charles was our driver from the country club to the Ark, and he was fantastic. I sat behind him, and he made sure I always got great photos of the animals we saw, even though my window didn't open. We saw endangered Colobus monkeys we didn't see anywhere else, and quite a few other animals.... More

My husband and I spent our second night in Kenya here as part of ET African Journey tour. As the previous reviewer wrote, only overnight bags here. The rooms are small but cozy. We really didn't spend much time there. There was so much to do. The viewing areas are amazing. There are enough so you never feel crowded and... More

I only went this time because my friends had not been there before. This was my second trip to the Ark, and this time I found the food much better (it was awful in 1996). The rooms are tiny, but that's not what you're there for. The animal viewing (especially at night) is outstanding. If you haven"t done it, give... More

I stayed at this place for 1 night. Since we had spent some time in Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru, was expecting to see the arid dry landscape but was it surprised! This lodge is in a forest which is DENSE unlike the open Savannahs of the Masai Mara. The Cloudy day added an element of mystique as we drove... More

First of all, to the people who found the crickets terrible: Welcome to Africa, if you don't want insects go to your sterile all in exclusive lodges and lock yourself up in your room. The Ark is a damn good experience, you go there to experience the wild and the nature surrounding you. The staff might be a little shy,... More

We went there 1 week ago, for the senery, as it is in the middle of the park. The water hole and the animal drama was fantastic. The lodge itself was in shambles. No water at all, only mud from the pipes and the apology from the manager was as muddy as the water.Crickets were everywhere including the bedrooms. The staff thought... More

The hotel is fashioned like an Ark with cabin-like rooms with attached shower & toilet. It overlooks a "watering hotel & salt-lick" and provides an excellent multi-level close-up view of the animals coming to the salt-lick & water-hole. An unique feature is the "Bell Menu" in each room which sounds an alert (number of rings) for differenr animal sightings. The... More

This is DEFINITELY the highlight of my trip to Kenya. How often do you get to hang out with the animals in their natural habitat? Well The Ark gives you that unique and priceless opportunity!! The staff have deep knowledge about the animals and were very accommodating to our curious questions. I LOVE the buzzer system that made sure we... More
