We picked Kinabatangan Jungle Camp because we really wanted to make the most of seeing the local wildlife. Robert who owns KJC is a very likeable eccentric character. He is humble but very knowledgeable of the local surroundings, but best of all leaves the running of the lodge to his very capable staff. He is very Eco friendly, small boats... More

Other lodges may have fancier cabins & bigger boats [though they squeeze a dozen people into them] but only Kinabatangan Jungle Camp has Robert Chong, the world expert on Sabah's birds and arguably the best bird guide on the river. You'll see the elephants and Orang Utangs & Proboscis monkeys too, as well as Macaques & pigs & monitor lizards... More

If you don't have fond memories of your days at scout camp, then you might want to look elsewhere. Otherwise, this place was a great find. The rooms are very spartan and the one I was in had thin sheets, dented walls and primitive plumbing, with hot water only available for 5 hours at night. A couple of others I... More

Stayed here for 2 nights was amazing ! The staff are friendly and can't do enough to help, the good is brilliant and he trips on the river and the jungle walk meant I saw many animals in the wild inc, using birds, elephants, snakes, monkeys etc e guides were good at spotting them and made sure we stayed for as... We (two couples in our early thirties) did a 3D/2N stay in Jan 12 at KJC. The stay was fantastic, with the boat rides (elephants, orang-utans and birds) and friendliness / service of the staff being the highlights. Big thanks to Liam our guide. Room accommodation was clean and functional, without being luxurious (which is as expected given it's the... More

We booked a 3 day 2 night trip to the Kinabatangan Jungle Camp with 'Borneo Icons' http://www.borneoicons.com/ in Kota Kinabalu. Our guide Charles was a treasure, he drove us from KK to the camp, seven hours of sight-seeing and commentary on Borneo lifestyle, traditions and wildlife. The lodge was great, the rooms clean and insect free, the dining area pleasant,... More

From the moment we arrived at the pick up point to the moment we were dropped off at our next destination the staff looked after us like we were friends. Though we arrived at the jetty in the dark it was sensational cruising along the river as it created a sense of mystery and travel into a lost world. When... More

We spent 2 nights here on the "Birders Tour" which gives you 5 cruises (2 each day and one at night) and the presence of the local legend that is Robert Chong. The camp is 1.5hrs drive from Sandakan (arranged by the camp) and is perfectly located on the Kinabatangan river for spotting wild orangutans (one of which is frequently... More

We had a one night away from Sepilok Forest Edge Resort which is managed by Annie, the owner Robert's wife. This is truly a great jungle experience so don't go expecting some five star hotel. If that's what you want perhaps the jungle isn't the place for you. This place is authentic to its surroundings with wooden chalets and outside... More

Jungle and wildlife here are amazing!! Food at the KJC very tasty moreover the staff in the restaurant smiling and nice and the guide Rudy a very good person and competent. The main reason of my bad review is only regarding the owner of this place. A very smart, arrogant and money-hungry person like his wife Annie (manager of the... More
