Nak hotel. We booked via Agoda initially for 1 night in a 'brick view' room only expecting to sleep there for one night and hoping to visit Turtle Island Reserve for another night.Turtle Island was ridiculously expensive and didn't reply to 3 emails and then needed bank transfer deposits in order to reserve a place and goodness knows what else.If you... Not a bad hotel to stay. I stay in single room with queen bed. The room is small with very little space between the bed and the working/make-up table. The room I stayed was in first floor. To my surprise, the room is just next to the lift. Furthermore, a partition placed in front of the lift to block the... More

Pleasantly surprised by this place - we had to spend a night in Sandakan before catching a flight and though disappointed by the town (which was nothing special, a bit dirty, full of industrial areas and absolutely nothing for the tourist to see) the hotel was just what we needed for 1 night. Huge room, lovely bathroom with great power... More

Located in central Sandakan near waterfront and we stayed in deluxe seaview room on Level 4 for 3 nights whilst visiting the area and Sepilok. Room was basic, not best TV reception but not a problem, room was clean and comfortable, although a little noisy from street activity and a delightful custom of a man shouting bus schedules all day.... This little Hotel has a secret. On the top floor there is a bar, with wonderful views out to sea. You can sit either inside or outside, downstairs or upstairs( up a very steep circular stair case to the next level). I wouldn't recommend the later. There is a room with low couches and big pillows inside, surrounded by small tables... More

Chose the hotel based on the lonely planet hotel list and spent one night there. The rooms were ok, I believe rhe hotel owner tries to make the best out of a small budget. The price was very good and we even got a welcome drink. Negative - quite noisy as located on a busy street. There was no ventilation... More

We stayed here last year for a couple of nights and stopped over again on our way to the Kinabatangan River. And, just like last time, friendly chilled out people, very clean rooms, common parts run down, some maintenance issues and that great rooftop bar/restaurant. This is not your average hotel, but on balance ... we really like it.

Old Chinese hotel thats been partially updated by the original owners grandaughter in law who has great taste but a limited budget. Go for a renovated 4th floor room and you'll be pleasantly surprised - very comfortable bed & excellent modern shower, attractively decorated & very clean, and ours even had an unexpected partial ocean view [unless you're very romantic... The place is a bit run down but the rooms are large and comfortable, the food is good and the cocktails are even better. A good place to stay a night or two while doing any of the local tours.
