Any hotel set in the tropics has to fight numerous problems given by the high humidity, insects etc. Do not expect any luxury, but to say the truth this hotel is better than many 3* hotels in Europe. Bed linen are changed daily, the hotel is clean and the garden well kept. The swimmingpoll is cleaned every morning. The food... More

We were given a beach front villa which was fantastic but once inside the room, the bathroom was open - which was a bit of a shock to us. The villa had it's own swimming pool which was quite appealing but one look at all the worms in the pool was enough to put any one off from stepping inside... More

The hotel is old, needs to be renovated and get rid of the flies & mosquitoes from the villas. Pillowes need to be replaced as they smell of sweat and odor. The TV didn't work due to no satellite signals and the safe was out of order too. The hotel garden is beautiful with lush greens and staff spend more... More

The hotel is very green, a lot of palms on the territory, also a lot of animals - big varans and small lizards, small creatures smth between squirrels and chipmunk, a lot of birds. But also beware of insects - cockroaches can be found un the cupboards, also small ants, flies are everywhere (a common problem on Sri Lanka), you... More

We went to Sri-Lanka in the end of september 2011 and stayed in Hibiskus for almost 2 weeks. The hotel isn't new but nevertheless it looks neat and nice, a lot of trees and palms, everything looks so green. There are a lot of chipmunks and we fed them with cashew nuts everyday). Furniture and designs of alll the rooms... More

We (2 couples / families) visited Srilanka in August 2011. Our last destination was the beach & we chose Kalutara. We booked two double occupancy standard suite at the Hibiscus. We were given rooms at the ground level.. facing the swimming pool. The facilities were good & food was just above average. - Not the best food I have had... More

BEWARE - This hotel is horrific. Everything is a lie that you see. The photos are not relevant they must of been taken 20 years ago - so much so I did not recognise this hotel as the one we stayed in. We went for a romantic break and hated every minute. The rooms - are a disgrace and you... More
