Hotel Saravana Bhavan was synonymous with delicious food, good quality and service. Over time all of this has changed. Food is terrible, it is served cold most of the time and the quality is abysmal. No value for money.

Started to target the middle class, but now only for the rich. Very expensive and the quantity is too less. Opening a number of restaurants by squeezing money. Known for taste once upon a time. Service is good and the desserts are fine. Was way better years back.
This taste might not be the best for every one. It is too much ghee based and though it is good for health, few might not like it.
The best part is their varieties and hygiene as well as service (Except during peak hours and the one at T Nagar. It will never have non veg or quality north indian...

I am a resident of chennai and have visited saravana bhavan occasionally. recently i have been to the KK nagar and pondy bazar brances. c'mon guys, the food is very expensive for vegetarian cuisine and they just inflate the price because they have got a name. the ridiculous price they charge is absolutely not worth anything. one has to accept...

Whenever I've visited Saravana Bhavan, I've always found it crowded. So one should consider himself lucky if he gets a place to sit in anything less than 10 minutes. South Indian food is what its famous for and it definitely is wonderful. Everytime I've come here, I've tried something new and it turns out to be great (the last I...

I am a resident of K.K. Nagar and have been dining at HSB from my childhood. Should be more than a decade, so I have seen HSB being remodeled, reconstructed, expanded through branches, etc. I am rating HSB excellent for the sake of maintaining their authentic South Indian taste (esp. idli, sambar) over so many years and 'very good' for...

We stayed for a couple of days at my uncle's place in K.K Nagar before flying back to Atlanta - there is a Saravana Bhavan in KK Nagar which is a stone throw distance away from my uncle's apartment - so we went there for breakfast on 2 consecutive days. The food is fabulous. I could drink their sambhar by...

Closeness to the Marina beach makes its more impressive. All snacks (variety of dosas, idlis etc.), meal and filter coffee are excellent. Service is fast. Huge hall to cater for group of people. Stand and eat Tiffin centre type facility available. Fast-food joint and sweet shop and yummy chaat facilities are available inside the compound. Hospitality is excellent. Little expensive...

This place is great bang for the buck (literally one dollars/50 rupees)! Dosas cost less than a dollar, but they also have very yummy chaats. They have a variety of dosas, and some Punjabi (North Indian) classics as well. They operate from early in the morning until late at night - which cannot be said of many Chennai restaurants.
