before arrival, I just want to find a safe and inexpensive place for me, a solo female traveller. Here it is the CRAZY WANDERERS, Rupak is the most genuine, superb person i have met in INDIA! Every night, we chatted endlessly about everything, INDIA, Bollywood movies, Indian music, etc. I also met many great travellers here. Even he was busy... More

Stayed here in a hut on the roof, was a bit hot in the day (no surprise given that it was May!), but that gripe was more than made up for by the amazing hospitality and kindness offered by Rupak and his staff. He was full of advice for what we should do, treated us time and again to excellent... More

I had no expectations wandering into Rupak's homestay; I was looking for a simple and inexpensive place to stay in Kolkata for one night and the Crazy Wanderers website caught my eye. I really liked that a large portion of the fee went towards bettering the lives of child sex workers and running one of Rupak's schools, called "Slum Kids... More

It was both wonderful and inspirational meeting and interviewing Rupak Chatterjee in his 'Universal Homestay' in Kolkata which attracts variety of change makers from around the world. The accommodation is basic but anyone with a desire to experience authentic Bengal won't be disappointed staying in a residential part of north Kolkata. I was amazed to hear Rupak's personal story and... More

This place is amazing, the accommodation is basic, but you get the chance to experience like the local people instead of staying in the touristic place. The hostel is close to the main road under a fly over bridge, many things are happening under the bridge, which make it really interesting. Best part of this hostel is the people, Rupak... More

It was almost the end of our 3-months trip and we're tired however Rupak took care of us and we had a great time in Kolkata. He was entertaining us with his stories and jokes all the time. He was sharing his plans and passion with us. He's amazing guy who thinks out of the box so it was pleasure... More

A friend of mine found the Crazy Wanderers homestay in Kolkata. After exchanging a few friendly emails with Rupak about location, arrival times we set off for Kolkata. We reached the homestay which was around 20 min from the airport. Rupak met us right where the taxi dropped us off. We stopped for a delicious chocolate milk drink (thank you... More

It was great to feel at home in a city that's loud and confusing. Rupak did an excellent job of taking me, and the other guests, to the right places that make Kolkata feel like home. From the guy in the local store, to a restaurant a few minutes away from Crazy Wanderers, everything made me feel like I was... More

I stayed at the Crazy Wanderers Homestay for two nights and I have only one regret : not to have known the place before on my previous trips to the town.... Rupak and I instantly clicked on and could openly talked about topics related to the fascinating country that India is as well as on much broader subjects. The place... More

Just the phone number was enough to spend crazy nice weekend in Kolkata. Flavorful street food, temples & gardens, boat trip and relaxing insightful evenings in Crazy Wanderers homestay.
