Had an excellent stay at Rancho Cerro Azul. Isaac and Kevin were fabulous hosts - incredibly helpful at organizing our tours and making us feel welcome at their beautiful resort. The Ginger Bar on the property was adorable - we played a rowdy game of jenga and had cocktails under the night-lit tiki hut. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast delicious. The restaurant down the road El Chante Verde was excellent, as well as the pupusa spot. Nearby souvenir spot for locally made pottery and wood bowls, and the chocolate tour also up the road. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back. Thank you Rancho Cerry Azul for being so welcoming!

Excellent location, with car about 5 minutes to town and quite a few attractions, including La Fortuna Falls and Bogarin Trail. The room was very spacious and clean, the property landscape is beautiful and well kept to attract all kinds of birds, there is a short trail in the property that takes you to the river side, very peaceful Family owned and operated, we met two incredible young men, Isaac and Kevin, very respectful, courteous and responsible, my compliments to them. will definitely go back. thanks

The grounds were stunning! The staff was very friendly. A family owned/operated place. Restaurants right down the road were delicious. Only breakfast is offered here. We visited a restaurant a few doors down that was fantastic. The rooms were like small homes. Ours had 2 bedrooms a kitchen and a very large patio with hammocks to lounge in. It was a nice stay.

We enjoyed our stay. However, I was not happy as the hotel was offering a 10% discount if we pay by cash. This seemed strange as credit card companies don’t charge as much margin. Felt like we were being over charged for paying with credit card.

The property is beautiful and the staff was friendly. HOWEVER, we checked in and checked out within two hours due to ants in the bed and bed bugs. We wanted to love it but couldn’t get past the bugs literally in the bed. Just beware of this. The staff offered to clean it again and we opted to go somewhere else.

The hotel was very nice. You are about a 20-30 minute walk from La Fortuna central. I walked it several times. Taxis are expensive. I used the La Fortuna shuttle and uber once. The staff was very helpful and always offering suggestions. The AC unit was loud and I slept better when it was cool enough not to use it. Restaurant next door is fantastic. I ate there twice.

A very secluded cabin like experience with great ambience and nature. The front desk, kitchen staff were very helpful. Not a run of the mill hotel. The garden was very well maintained. It was good to see Toucans on the property, plenty of turkeys, hummingbirds and other birds. The experience would have been perfect, if there were coffeemaker, hot water availability in the room. It was very inconvenient to not have these basic amenities, especially when the group has an early day tour booking. Limited eating places in the area. The one's close were good but a bit expensive. Will need transportation to go to the city center. Overall, a good place to stay if you like peace and quiet, to experience the natural beauty of Costa Rica

I stayed here in one of their larger suites with young children. The room was comfortable and the air conditioners worked well. The TV was "smart" which the kids really liked (could connect to Netflix). Internet was very speedy which is a big plus. Breakfast is nice, and my kids really, really enjoyed the river trail. We saw many frogs, birds, and even a turtle! Our family-sized unit was closest to the road so we could hear some of the road traffic - but with fun-packed days, we were able to sleep without any major issues.

My second stay with this hotel. Great experience with the staff and their customer service. Pamela was especially attentive to detail. The laundry service was very useful. The level of humidity in La Fortuna made it difficult to hang dry our bathing suits and clothing. The landscaping is beautiful and it attracts the birds to sit outside your window. Also, there are some trails leading down to the river that are nice to explore during the day. The location is an easy walk to a market and a few restaurants. But it’s probably easier to catch a ride into town. The only thing I would note is the comfort level of the bed. They are very firm.

Look y'all; first it IN Costa Rica, and right at the foot of a frikkin' live volcano. We were in the last cabin, a really simple shelter with a comfortable bed, fine pillows, and all the expected amenities plus a hammock on a back porch where every morning I sat drinking coffee and listening to and watching dozens of different birds. We ate breakfast in the hotel cafe every morning and the staff was gracious, patient, and eager to be helpful. The Desayuno Tipical, Typical Breakfast, is what I will have when we emigrate; Gallo Pinto ("speckled like a rooster" beans and rice), fried plantains with a tart and piquant salsa from the table, scrambled or fried eggs, fruit and toast fueled me up everyday for exploration! And, of course, like any good hotel, the staff has suggestions and information about surrounding attractions. Alonzo, Kevin (and little Emmy), and Tatiana were especially helpful and friendly. And by the way, Tatiana, that sound I asked you about "como un torbellino"? Howler Monkeys!…
