We chose la Playa Chiquita Lodge due to its location: just outside of Puerto Viejo. We rented bikes for the week and it was the best investment made. We traveled everywhere with our bikes. We visited nearby Punta Uva, Manzanillo, the Jaguar Rescue Center, and went to and fro Puerto Viejo. It was perfect. Every morning, the first thing I... More

Physically the place is lovely - rustic duplex cabins strung along a wooden walkway, leading, eventually, to a wonderful beach (It was a long walk to the water). When you arrive you enter into a large public space including a dining room and library. All of it is surrounded by a stunning jungle garden. So far so good. But between... More

it is very sad to see such a nice place but feel so uncomfortable. I expect from a hotel that it is clean... when we laid in the bed we had to see blankets full of bloodstains (probably from the moskitos) Well I think that a fellow countryman from Germany could be more carrying even abroad!!!

We stayed @ Playa Chiquita lodge for 3 nights. Although the staff was friendly & helpful when we brought issues to their attention, I wasn't too happy with the condition of the room. When we arrived the room had obviously not been been cleaned since the previous guest stayed - there was trash in the bathroom trash can & dirty... More

My wife planned our trip to this area of Costa Rica because she waned to be away from any heavy tourist locations. The area is becoming developed, but it’s still very laid back and I couldn’t believe the amount of wildlife in the area. We woke up the first morning to a bunch of Howler monkey’s in the trees over... More

Recently spent 5 nights here and on the whole had a good experience. Rooms are shabby but adequate. Find out when the property's well will be pumping for a good shower - otherwise it's a dribble, thanks to the drought! Wolle was friendly and helpful when he was there, but he went to SJ for a few days, upon which... More

Really enjoyed my stay at the Playa Chiquita. Everyone very friendly. The room was comfortable. Good breakfast. The beach was one of the most beautiful and private beaches I have ever seen. Lot's of night noises beware if you are a light sleeper. Great overall experience.

We loved our stay at Playa Chiquita. The cabanas were comfortable and the bathrooms nice. Waking to the sound of the monkeys in the trees outside our room was such an amazing experience. Each morning, we would travel down the little path through what feels like rainforest onto the most gorgeous beach. Wanda Patterson arranged all our food which was... More
