My husband and I stayed only 1 night. I could have moved in for years and cannot wait to return. The area is spectacularly beautiful with grizzlies and bald eagles. The owner was helpful and knowledgable about the area and clearly loved the place and being around people.

Put this on your bucket list! My Daughter-In-Law and I stayed here on our way to Anchorage. Warm, welcoming and astounding beauty are a few inadequate words to describe our experience. The owners are more than accommodating. They clearly care that you have a fantastic experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the river lodge. We saw a few brown bear searching for fish and lots of bald eagles swooping down the river looking for the salmon. The porch of this lodge has seating and there is no need to leave if you just want to view nature at it's nicest. I would highly recommend this... More

We have stayed at the Chilkoot River Lodge the past two Augusts and we have already booked are room for next August; words cannot express just how special this place is. If you want to safely watch Brown (Grizzly) bears while staying in clean, comfortable conditions and at an extremely reasonable price, there is literally no other place to do... More

This is our second year in a row for the Chilkoot River Lodge, and what a gem. Sue the owner is such a great lady, she makes each guest feel extra special. The rooms are spotless and comfortable and the BBQ shelter the perfect place to cook up your fresh caught salmon or a steak from in town. We stayed... More

This is my fourth and final day at the Chilkoot River Inn and I can unequivocably recommend a stay here. In fact, it would be nuts to contemplate staying somewhere else in Haines. As described by previous reviewers, the location is superb, the room is supremely comfortable, and it would be impossible to find a more gracious host than Sue,... More

If you want a contact with the wild nature you have to come to this amazing place. The lodge is absolutely comfortable with a fridge, sink, cutlery and dishes, microwave, television and free wireless internet but what is most extraordinary is the view from the windows of the room. You can see the majestic mountains, fir trees and a river absolutely impressive.Every... We stayed three nights in this tiny but special place. Unfortunately, we had not booked early enough and could not stay in the same room or for all the nights we wanted. The view from the room and the porch is over an elevated bend in the river and is beautiful. We also saw a bear each night we were... More

We stayed at lodge last week. Sue was a great host. The river view is amazing. Trees were full of Bald Eagles. A Brown Bear was about 20 feet from our back door when we were checking in. It came bye to see us several times during our two night stay. An Eagle caught a fish in the river and... More

This place is amazing. You have to see it for yourself. The rooms are cozy, clean, and tastefully decorated. The service was outstanding and I felt like I was visiting family. Breathtaking views of the river just outside the room's sliding glass doors reminded me of an enchanted winter wonderland. We only stayed one night in order to catch the... More
