We were at the Kosrae Village Resort during the "off" season. A little slice of heaven and we couldn't imagine why it was off, but we were the only guests. We were treated and indulged as if we were only children. Bruce, Katrina and the considerable staff assured that we were well fed, libations were more than adequate and we... More

OK so I might understand the desire to go tropical and stay in a grass hut, but this place looks like it has never been cleaned and it's scary gross. It's filthy and not just because it's on the beach and has spiders and crabs. We encountered live AND dead rats and their feces on our table, termite feces raining... More

I am truly at a loss to know how to respond to this review. Let me start by explaining that we did not have any guests named Alice or from Hawaii in October, so it is very difficult to identify what problems may have occurred during this guest’s stay. There is a tiny grain of truth in this review; we... More

If you are looking for a resort that brings the island experience right to your door, then Kosrae Village is the place for you. It is very rustic, from the mosquito netting to the huts made from all natural materials, found on the island. There is electricity and hot and cold running water in the huts. The food in the... I first went with my two kids (Alex, then 8 and David, then 17) in Dec 2000, then with a friend in Feb 2010, and most recently just this past Dec (2011). Each time, I think this is the place my neighbors are looking for - it is still "undiscovered;" people are warm, open, and welcoming; it is breathtakingly beautiful;... More

I just want to leave something in here from the local point of view. Let me make it clear to all that I've been around few places from the mud huts in Afghanistan, Mirage in Vegas, the Bahamas, Cancun, Paris and lots , lots more. I am from this Island and am serving in the US Armed Forces. I have... More

Very nice location right on the beach, great for the kids to run around, the food is excellent and the owners are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are like huts made out of palm fronds and other materials, charming but very rustic and decaying. While we were there we had a leak in the roof on a rainy night,... More

I have spent a total of several months at KVR over several trips.I wanted to live on an Island as beautiful as Kosrae so I did back in 2000.It is true it is on a reef in the healthy Mangroves and yes there are Mossies and all the creatures that were meant to live there. If you can appreciate the thought... Thank you very much for your kind words. Now our challenge is to keep improving, both the property and guest experience, and the work we do with our neighboring community. We started a small community based NGO last year, Kosrae Island Community Action Society, that is focused on issues that affect everyone on the island like spay and neuter clinics... More

The guidebooks are SO wrong: this is no tropical paradise. The 'cottages' are shabby, dirty (stained with bat droppings) and run-down. The location, between the roaring surf and a mosquito infested swamp, will guarantee sleepless nights. Everything seems down at heel and well past its best, but the prices are still high. Go to the Kosrae Nautilus Resort instead: you'll... More

I am very sorry that this guest did not enjoy his stay with us. This is a tropical island and we make no secret about the presence of mosquitoes. They hatch in the many water pockets by the leaves and branches in the trees, not in the mangrove behind us which is a free flowing estuary. We do provide mosquito... More

This was our second trip(in 10 years) to KVR for an awesome diving experience. We saw no pelagic fish this trip, but Kosrae has some of the most beautiful huge corals we've seen in the Pacific. The mounds of Christmas tree worms (plentiful in this area) and anemones with a variety of species and sizes of clown fish leave one... More

I have written a review that focuses on the ecological design of the cottages, the setting, and the 5-star restaurant. It includes info on dive packages and PADI training, community-based stewardship of the reef, and the friendliness of the staff. I am a freelance journalist--I think the review has literary merit worth reading. There is no bias, just child-like appreciation.... More
