We had a wonderful three-night stay here after driving all the way from Cape Town. A really great lodge in a great location in the Amakhala Game Reserve (which I much prefer to Addo, where we had one game drive and which was full of tarred roads and individuals' cars--not my idea of a safari). Wonderful game drives--they're not kidding... More

I have so many wonderful memories of this part of my holiday! It felt like an adventure in a very positive way. The staff were always extremely attentive and helpful, especially Mnomi our safari driver. He took our group out each day and made every outing special by sharing his vast knowledge of flora and fauna. The accommodation was beautifully... More

In February 2013 we spent one night and two part days at Amakhala Safarie Lodge. It was fabulous. The food and accommodation was great. I particularly like the faint hint of rustic in sophisticated accommodation. The staff were friendly and professional. The two game drives were excellent. We got to see most of the animals on offer. The Eastern Cape... More

We had 4 nights at Amakhala on our first ever safari holiday. The staff were all incredibly helpful, friendly and enthusiastic, the food was wonderful. Our ranger Ebin was a mine of information and we managed to see something new on every drive. It was really special to wake up and see animals at the water hole just metres from... More

We LOVED everything about Amakhala. The staff were amazing, the food excellent, the game drives fabulous (thank you Ebin!) and the accommodation wonderful (loved our own personal plunge pool). Couldn't think of one single criticism even if I tried.

What a fantastic weekend breakaway, we ended up staying on for an extra night. friendly staff, absolute privacy, good service, great food, personal game drives twice a day - what more do you need in the bush? to top this all was the roar of the lion a stone throw away during supper. magic!

My wife and I stayed at the Amakhala Safari Lodge as part of our honeymoon trip to South Africa. The stay was one of the highlights of the trip. The accommodation is beautiful and the staff really go out of their way to make you feel special. Whilst the reserve is small by South African standards this did mean that... More

We were on our honeymoon recently in South Africa and stayed at the Amakhala Safari Lodge. It was possibly the most romantic place we have stayed - perfect for honeymooners! We had our own private plunge pool and a perfect view of the watering hole where all the animals came to drink water in the hot weather. The room was... More

A wonderful lodge with fantastic game reserve. Great attention to detail whilst retaining the authentic on-safari feel. Not over commercialised and not a disney-style attraction. Casper looked after us at the lodge superbly and Ebin was a knowledgeable and wonderful guide. Three nights was great. No need for any longer. Be prepared to be out game viewing for a few... More
