We got a very last minute booking for one night, and even with our very late arrival we were welcomed by a very firendly guy, who was glad to show us around. We got a 4 person room for two, which suited us just fine. Although it did not feel like the most clean place, we got a night's good... More

We stopped over for a night at Jikuleza as PE is a compulsory stop on the Baz Bus. Having read some bad reviews we weren't expecting much so were pleasantly surprised by the quick service on check in and one of the comfiest mattresses I have ever slept in; just what you want when you've been travelling on a bus... I think the reviews which the place gets on here are not very fair. Granted, we only spent about 6 hours there changing over from the BazBuses, but we found the room to be quiet and the mattresses to be comfortable. I had a really good sleep. It isn't in the best part of town, but for the night that... More

Booked a double then arrived late on the baz bus and were told that we were in a twin, and when we asked if there was a discount for changing our booking without telling us, we were aggressively told that the rooms were the same price by the creepy man at reception. Wifi not free, access to the bathrooms is... More

A convenient location but the guy on duty was very unfriendly. They double booked us and we had to find somewhere else for the second night, which they helped us to do. The room was ok, be careful not to hit your head on the low beam in the bathroom. If you can find somewhere else, I recommend you do

we arrived late with baz bus on a very cold rainy night into a run down reception area with the main door wide opened allowing the wet cold wind in and TV blaring from the lounge next door. the male staff member on duty would not turn the TV down so we could actually hear what he was attempting to... We arrived. Guy on desk was unhelpful. Our private room was a shed outside! Cold in spring time! The next day when asking what there is to do. They didn't tell us anything. We had to find out for ourselves getting lost and through some dodgey areas! Never again!

Jikeleza Lodge is a fantastic place to stay, definitely the best place in Port Elizabeth. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, it's SUPER clean, and it's in a great location only a few minutes walk to the heart of downtown. Best of all, they strive to keep their rates low & there's a TV with cable.

After backpacking for several weeks in South Africa, we were really impressed with all of the backpackers hostels we went to. They were all clean with a great atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff and nice room and dorms! However, Jikeleza Lodge could not have been more different. We arrived late after a long journey on the Baz Bus... More

Basically this hostel is very close to the dodgy party of town, some locals avoid this part of town all together (even during the day) and the car parked next to ours got the window smashed in and radio stolen. If you are going to PE, I'd recommend staying in Humewood or Summerstrand instead. We booked a private room and... More
