I surprised my husband with a trip to Thula Thula this past weekend, we stayed for just one night (23 February 2013). Our experience at THula Thula was second to none. From the moment we arrived, we were so well taken care off - from our collection from the reception to the tented camp site - to our welcome drinks... More

We visited Thula Thula for only a few hours as part of a privately arranged shore excursion from our cruise ship. This was my first visit to a game reserve and it was beyond my expectations. We were picked up at the dock and driven to the lodge, which is about an hour away. You can see from their website... More

As massive fans of the book and the work that Lawrence Anthony did, we were really excited to go to Thula Thula. And there were lots of good things... The rangers were fantastic, in particular on the safari walks: their knowledge of everything in the bush was astounding. The food was ok, the camp is nice, the staff were friendly,... More

As a previous reviewer said, I do not know where to start. Guess at the Title, Arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.. How can anyone not feel like a friend when one is treated the way that each and every one of the staff treats you. From the word go and arriving at the main gate we... More

I really have no idea where to start. People who have read the book and felt disappointed after going to Thula Thula I highly recommend to read it again but with some more attention. The only thing that was said, is that we will never meet Mr. Lawrence as all, and I mean all of the staff, call him so... More

Fantastic experience to stay in the African bush, choose either the luxury tented camp or the lodge. Do yourself a favour and read Lawrence Anthony's The Elephant Whisperer before your stay. The story of Thula-Thula's elephants is extraordinary. Thula-Thula is a two hour drive north of Durban in Kwa Zulu Natal.

My husband and I spent a wonderful 3 days at Thula Thula Game Reserve in May 2012. The accommodation was lovely and the French/African cuisine a culinary delight. The Rangers and Trackers are extremely knowledgeable about the bush and the animals. With two game drives each day we got to see a lot of game including the late Lawrence Anthony's... More

If you have read the book, The Elephant Whisperer, you really should try and get to Thula Thula. If you have not read this book please read it and be inspired. If you are lucky enough to get this reserve you will simply be inspired. Its a tranquil reserve with a relaxed atmosphere where the staff , after a day,... More

My sister and I stayed at Thula Thula for three nights: two nights at the tented camp and then one night at the lodge. Before that, we had stayed two nights at a much bigger reserve which had the Big 5 etc. But what Thula Thula lacks in size, it makes up for in spirit. I actually had never heard... More

I cannot believe I finished up at Thula Thula during my trip to visit my sister for my 50th Birthday. After being handed a copy of 'The Elephant Whisper' when I landed and then to finish up visiting for 3 days was a dream come true. If you are looking for a relaxing, friendly, luxurious stay with wonderful French cuisine... More
