My husband and I spent the weekend at Bushlands Game Lodge in Janauary 2012. Bushlands is made up of individual log-cabin style units. Our particular unit (No.6) was set right in the sand forest. The units are connected to one another and to the dining-room and reception area etc by raised board-walks. Our room was very comfortable and the lodge... More

We stayed here for two nights self catering, and the rooms were just fantastic. Tastefully decorated with air con in both bedrooms which get serviced daily. The lodges are clustered togethor but there is enough privacy, with sturdy boardwalks linking them all. The pool is a godsend in the hot weather! We had the buffet for one night which was... More

Cabins/lodges much as described by others - quiet, comfortable, well serviced but a little tire looking. Self guided walks very enjoyable. Saw giraffe, impala, kyala, wildebeest, zebra, vervet monkeys and thick tailed bush babies plus many birds. Game warden escorted trip to Hluhluwe game reserve itself well worthwhile. Saw buffalo, rhino, elephant, warthog, zebra, and many antelope types. Take warm,... More

The accommodation is in comfortable cabins spread over a wide area and accessed by raised walkways. The bathroom in our cabin had seen better days, but was acceptable for the 2 nights we were at Bushlands. The staff here were fantastically friendly and helpful, and the chef made special gluten-free meals for my wife. More

The main lodges are built of wood and connected to each other, the reception, dining room and bar by raised wooden walkways. These are a bit rickety in parts as are the lodges - walk across the floor and things shake. The walkways are about 1.5m high and animals and birds walk underneath. Vervet monkeys can be heard clambering over... More

We had a self-catering family unit, situated close to the entrance. The unit was very spacious and luxurious. The garden with pool was very nice. However, there were not many animals to be seen. The reception and the restaurant were quite far from our unit. There were few other guests during our stay. When we dined in the restaurant we... More

After a pretty long ride on a dirt road with some deep potholes and after passing some Zulu warrior you get to the entrance of the spacious lodge. The cabin-style huts are comfortable, the bathroom way too small though. Staff is excellent, both at the front desk as well as service during dinner which we enjoyed. We stayed closest to... More

This was a lovely lodge, apart from the receptionist all the other staff were amazing and it was with deep regret that we had to leave. Please note though, get their in daylight as the directions are a little confusing. The rooms were a good size and it was entertaining to see the bushbabies in the evening, and then hearing... More

The entrance to the game lodge is in the middle of nowhere. And you do have to travel a long long long long long sandy road with potholes to get there (so familycar will be dirty when rain has been fallen). But when you arrive, there is a warm welcome with a nice free drink. Staff is nice and very... More

This is a game lodge where the animals roam around under the raised walkways. It is relatively small, and the atmosphere is friendly and intimate. Zebra passed beside my lodge early morning. The lodges are well spaced out and comfortable, but don't expect five star luxury. This is not what it's about. I greatly enjoyed my stay there. More
