We often use Kingfisher as an overnight stop when driving between Cape Town and East London. Yes we know it is not half way, but we do this because the hospitality is above excellent, the location is absolutely beautiful, and you actually feel like you are overnighting at a really good family or friend's house. The only regret we have... More

Once again, thank you for a wonderful review. It is always lovely to have you and your family to stay with us and it was such fun to see Ethan enjoying feeding the birds and playing with Houdini. We continue to look for a happy, loving dog like Tessa and hope to have one the next time you visit us.... More

Our stay at Kingfisher Country House was an absolute spoil! The owners Sue & Phil are some of the most hospitable hosts I've come across. They'll help you out with absolutely everything you need to know about Wilderness and The Garden Route, before you could even think what to ask and make you feel at home right away. I do... More

The most delightful Bed & Breakfast guesthouse in such a beautiful, peaceful setting. The hosts, Sue and Phil, are warm and welcoming and breakfast is delicious and welcome change from usual "full English" breakfast. Sue is full of ideas and enthusiasm with suggestions for ways to spend days in the area. The final B is for BIRDS - so many... More

Good morning, Thank you Lis for a happy review, we always appreciate reviews. We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay. We try and vary the breakfasts every morning as I feel the same way that you do about " full English breakfasts" as it becomes rather tedious having the same thing every day!! We look forward to seeing... More

We stayed 3 nights in this lovely guest house, run by Sue and Philip, who were incredibly helpful and friendly and provided us with the most wonderful breakfasts, as well as ideas for what to do with our days. Sue said she could give us enough ideas for ten days - sadly we didn't have the time!. Whilst there we... More

What a super review, thank you so much. As there are so many beautiful places to explore, it is a difficult choice to make but Swartberg Pass is one of the most magnificent passes in South Africa, the scenery is amazing and it is one of our favorite drives. My fourth time at Kingfisher Country House leading birdwatching tour groups, and it seems to get better every time. Sue and Phil make sure you are as comfortable as possible while you watch their amazing bird feeding station, which is one of the best in South Africa in terms of number of tricky and beautiful species. Their well kept property... More
