The Garden Court was just what we needed for our three night stay in Cape Town. It has a lovely vines of Table Mountain and is conveniently located near the bus stop. It is also located near a small convenience store great for takeouts for day trips or back to the room after a busy day of touring. The included... More

I stayed in Garden Court de Waal from 8th to 13th November, 2011. As it was part of a great flight+hotel internet deal, I was a bit scared of what I would find. Great surprise! The room was very clean, nice view to the Table Mountain (so we could see whether toe top was too clody or not), a huge... More

The hotel is good value for money, has a good location, rooms are large and fairly well furnished. The breakfast spread is good. What spoils the experience is first the unfriendly staff -- they seem unhappy to see you and secondly the terrible state of the plumbing. This was not peculiar to my room, my friends in two other rooms... More

My wife and I stayed for a week B and B. We were concerned that the total cost for a week was so low that we had made a mistake. What a surprise therefore to find such a clean well kept room, service was so polite and excellent from all the staff we dealt with and maintenance fixed a small... More

My husband and I and some friends stayed here for the 2012 jazz festival and we found it exceptional value for money. The rooms were clean, fresh and more than adequate. The reception desk was friendly and efficient. The breakfast was very good and substantial. All in all I would heartily recommend the hotel and we will definitely stay in... More

I had not stayed in a South African 3* hotel for years, but needed an inexpensive option for a 4 day business trip. Took a chance & was glad. The hotel is centrally situated and spotlessly clean. White cotton linen on the two double beds. Not fully equipped rooms & finishes a bit old (but upgraded here and there), but... More

My husband booked us into the Southern Sun De Waal after reading reviews on this page, however I feel that the hotel doesn't run according to 3* standard, in fact I would rate this hotel in South African terms 1*. We found 2 lizzrds in our room on arrival, the shower curtain stunk damp and the bathroom was cramped, the... More

Lovely view of the mountain and easy access with the car. Taxi into town is under 60 Rand. Rooms are clean, tidy and have good selection of cable tv channels. Breakfast had a reasonable selection of cooked, pasteries and fruit. Internet was exceptionally terrible for all 3 days.

Checked in on the afternoon of 15 February 2012 at about 18:00. Very good, friendly welcome that made me feel, well, welcome. Room was not ready as yet but lady was very apologetic, made me comfortable on the balcony with a welcome drink to compensate. Much appreciated and was more than necessary for a minor inconvenience. Waited not more than... More
