I stayed 4 nights in this hotel at the end of April. I arrived late the first night and went down to the bar for a beer to bring back to my room because there is no mini-bar in the room. There is a fridge, but it’s empty. On two different tables I could see girls dressed and painted in... More

Dear Guest, Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding and thank you for your valuable feedback. Even though the contents of your letter is of great concern to us and most certainly not what we stand for or support in any way or form, at the Commodore Hotel in the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, it is a reality... I cannot even begin to tell you how much I recommend the Commodore Hotel. My partner and I stayed there for 5 days/4 nights from Apr 19-Apr 23, 2013. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and seamless. The staff is so helpful, positive, and gracious. This was our 4th time to South Africa/2nd time to Cape Town. The location... More

Hotel perfectly situated on the Waterfront and the kind of service expected from a four star.Porters helpful and very assisting. Reception could think a little bit more of the needs of clients and should know their rooms(Twins or double).but otherwise no complaints. Brekfast is very good and food is adventorours. Snake in Olive oil?

We stayed at The Commodore after our cruise on the QM2 in April. We booked online and got a great rate which was why we got a room overlooking the internal courtyard. For us this wasn't a problem as we spent our time sightseeing and only used our room for bathing and sleeping. Staff was fantastic, especially Reception and the... More

We stayed at The Commodore for two nights, upon checking into our room, we were a little disappointed with not having a view of table mountain as we thought we had booked a "suite". We went down to reception and queried this with them but they first said we had only booked a standard room even though our booking said... More

Having been to Cape Town before I was booked to stay at the sister hotel The Portswood. But I had the pleasure of being placed in the Commodore. Not a lot to choose between the two but The overall feeling is that the Commodore is a better hotel with slightly better comfort and rooms, but far better reception & amenity... More

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We had a standard room with a view of the V&A waterfront and Table Mountain. The rooms was nice, but the location and the views were the best. We enjoyed the free wifi and breakfast each morning. The travel or guest services desk in the lobby was helpful in booking tours... More

I was annoyed when checking in. The clerk presented an A4 page with many small printed rules which I was supposed to accept and sign. Maybe the rules are ok, but I never had that experience before. (We stayed in 7 other hotels) It is not We will not return fair or feasible to ask for this. They also required... More

The Commodore Hotel is located on Portswood Road just a five minute walk from the V&A Waterfront. It was very easy to find, although we had chosen the satnav option to go with our Avis hire car which made a big difference. Upon arrival we received a warm greeting, help with our bags and the car was whisked off to... More

While the photos on the website look inviting, the rooms are drab and tired, the staff attempt to be useful (but fall short), and there isn't much reason to like this hotel. I had already decided I didn't like the place, when I was called after I had checked out and accused of not paying my bill. They demanded I... More
