stayed in different places in Cape Town and also in this area of de Waterkant. It is actually a very nice (and safe) area to stay and the Charles is in my view one of the nicest guesthouses in the heart of de Waterkant. The room (room 8) was very nice and very clean. The shower, integrated in the room...

The location is excellent. Our room was #6 and was spacious and very neatly arranged. The modern furniture and decor works well and the location on the second floor is private. Although we didn't eat at the cafe the man operating it was friendly and welcoming. Having internet access in the room would be preferable in this day and age....

The location cannot be faulted, quality bars and restaurants on your doorstep and plenty of security all around which is very important in cape town. The reception is not always manned, we arrived at about 8pm (we did specifically mention this when booking) and there was no one there. One of the security guards for the area called one of...

Sadly, there was much to disappoint at The Charles. The 'Superior' room might have lived up to expectations has it been serviced to an acceptable standard - lacking toiletries, soap dish, replacement coffe and milk, and on one occasion a hand towel; they 'ran out' according to the maid. One day it was not serviced at all (until we requested...

Our stay at The Charles in De Waterkant Village was comfortable and enjoyable. I would recommend this accommodation to friends because the location was fantastic. I¹m no fan of walking the streets of Cape Town, but the stroll down the road to the Cape Quarter was pleasant and easy. The area was pumping full of life and energy. In the...
