We had a wonderful night stay at the Devon Valley Hotel. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed and the shower was wonderful. Our view of the valley was very pretty. The breakfast was vast (a lot of cheeses!!). The location was good, close to the winerys...

We had been looking forward to finishing our holiday in Stellenbosch and chose the Devon Valley on the basis of the reviews but we were very disappointed. The first issue was finding the place. The first sign you see has Devon Valley Hotel in large font and then "Entrance next right" in much smaller font and obscured by foliage. So... More

Dear Zut_Alas I am very saddened to read your Trip advisor report. I note you are extremely well travelled and this makes the review even harder. Your experience is certainly not the experience we are trying to achieve for our guests staying with us. Our motto at Devon Valley Hotel is “handmade hospitality”. We strive to deliver excellence in hospitality,... More

And I don't mean in a good way. Devon Valley is in a beautiful part of the Western Cape, but the parking is really not that great (steep angles). The rooms are quaint, the claw foot bath is beautiful but the shower is either scalding or freezing! The food is very expensive and small portions but the breakfast is plentiful... More

Dear AliceinWonderland Many thanks for your feedback. I value the time taken to write your feedback on Trip advisor and your opinions are important to use. I appreciate the parking is “really not great”. A few years ago we moved the parking to one area of the property. This was done to prevent the noise of vehicles driving past rooms.... More

Another Riviera traveller, who thought this the best of all the hotels we stayed in. Our room in the extension was first class in terms of comfort, decor, cleanliness. (The curious folding wall between bedroom and bathroom provided much amusement....) The restaurant provided an interesting menu and presentation was fine, but just to sit on the terrace and soak in... More

The trash cans in the bathroom are rusty, the shower has mold between the tiles, the orange juice is from concentrate... It just is not what it used to be. The hotel is a bit run down now and caters to large groups, so the "magic" of a special place has been lost.

We had a wonderful two nights stay at the Devon Valley Hotel during a Riviera holidays tour. The hotel is in a very quiet location overlooking a valley. Our room (38) was on the ground floor of the new wing, was large with a small patio alongside a large grass area. The view of the valley was very nice and... More

Delightful hotel, a bit far out of town (10 minutes by car - 250 rand return trip), but a wonderful position, views over the vineyards, quiet, good food at reasonable prices, and the personal always willing to be of assistance. Huge buffet on Sundays is recommended, but don't plan to do too much after the meal! Great nights sleep as... More
