Location is great. Dining area on the deck is fabulous. Food is good. Meals are very nice, but limited and overpriced. Eco-policy prevents wine (bottles) but allows beer! Most staff are helpful. Be aware that the rooms are stacked up the hillside, with the top one (#8) about 200 steps (a 20-story building) above the reception. You have to climb... More

Isla verde is okay. It's a little bit expensive for Guatemala, but it's kinda nice in a rustic backward sort of way. And there are other much more expensive hotels near by. The staff can be snobby. That girl Karen in the front desk, she can be short with the guests. But the woman in the kitchen are really nice... More

The views from the room are wonderful. The food was great and a little pricey. Given that much of the food was grown on site and the rest boated in, the price is understandable.

The staff were very rude and unfriendly and treated me like a nuisance the whole time. The rooms are overpiced for what is available on the lake, they charged me $7 per glass of wine, the walk to the pier was a bother as the boat wouldn't drop me there, when the bill came with all the tax and drinks... I stayed at Isla Verde in February 2012, and what an amazing place, tranquil and trendy, eco-friendly and economical, all with breathtaking views of Lake Atitlan. The shared bathroom (solar heated water) even had a spectacular view of of the lake. Oh and the food, slow cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious.

We stayed at Isla Verde for 2 nights with our 4 children. The accomodations were rustic, but comfortable and clean. The apartment we stayed in had no separate bathroom. If you got out of the shower it was in the main room. We were woken up a few times by the new puppy, who I believe was staying below us.... More

I think my title is sufficient. Just to add that the owner and staff could not be more helpful. Very good food. Amazing situation. My only fault being that I booked rather late for a room with a shared bathroom and found myself in a room with four beds and not one of the little cottages I dreamed of staying... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was wonderful. The 170 steps up to our room at first was a shock but we got used to it quick. The rooms are beautiful with an outdoor shower. Wonderful hot shower with perfect pressure. No mosquitoes too so it was great. Only disappointing thing is that there isn't a view of the... More

We were blown away with everything about this place. The view from our lovely little cabin was breathtaking. Watching the sun rise and set over the lake and volcanoes every day was incredible. The food was absolutely delicious and we ended up eating here everyday so we didn't miss out! The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We loved the... More

Not many people succeed in designing/managing a Hotel like IslaVerde, I've worked for human resources in great hotel areas and have never found such skilled and considerate work team. Yes indeed, IslaVerde has a lovely lake view, great yoga venue and serves amazing food, yet what really makes this place special, is each one of those working to make this... More
