Set inside a hill between San Pedro and San Juan, with an excellent view of the lake, this is the best place I stayed at in Guatemala. Imagine waking up to this view through huge windows every morning. I didn't ask for any food, but had a cabin with a little kitchen which was rather well equipped. You have to... More

We stayed two nights in cabin 3 which is small, quiet, isolated and with an exquisite view of the lake. There are quite a few steps so we built up our quadracepts. It was a good warm up for the hike up to the rostro maya in San Juan. I hate to make them do extra work but it is soooooo!!! nice... More

We stayed 3 nights in hotel Chi-Ya and loved it. It was one of the best places we stayed ever, anywhere. It's located in the middle between San Juan and San Pedro, easy walk or tuk tuk drive from each, very quiet (except weekend fiesta in San Juan), exeptionally clean, large bungalows with huge windows and verandas overlooking the lake,... We stayed at this hotel for one week in February. The location is nice, on a quiet hillside with beautiful views above the lake, about half-way between the villages of San Juan and San Pedro, a 15-minute walk or 5Q tuk-tuk ride to either town. I was a bit disappointed with the rooms - they are very basic with little... More

Hotel Chi-Ya is simply an amazing place. The views are magical, with the mountains and water changing every moment with the light and the mist. Liliana is a great cook and she and Barry are lovely to talk to, while giving you plenty of personal space. The porches are perfect for yoga (bring a mat, ask for a wood porch),... More

we chose this hotel because we wanted a calm, friendly and nice place. also: we prefer not to stay at the bigger towns and hotels, and we imagined this place needed the customers. the booking and all further enquiries went fine via email, and this woman came across as friendly and helpful. we infomed them 3 times during our trip... Stayed here for a long weekend in August 2010. The first day they were fully booked but Saturday we could choose our rooms. The hotel is located about 10 minutes from the centre of the town, ask directions or take a tuk-tuk to go up the hill. The bungalows are huge and some have a kitchen area as well. Lot's... More

we stayed 4 nights ij July in this gorgeous place. We had a bungalow overlooking the lake ( you can even see it from the bed!), which was quite large (25square meters), very clean, neat bathroom . The owners are charming and helpful people; the breakfasts were delicious ( eggs, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, home made bread, jam, honey, maple syrup!) and... More

I discovered HOTEL CHI-YA by accident as I walked from San Marcos to San Pedro. CHI-YA ("by the water" in the local dialect). It was the highlight of my trip. There are around 6 individual, large cabins that are beautifully built in local wood and tastefully decorated, all with private baths with hot water . They have balconies and steps... More

Stay for 3 nights in the bungalow and thought it was excellent. The views out of the huge windows and from the lovely balcony are stunning and the location peaceful (we were the only ones staying there at the time). We were glad we did not stay in the sometimes smelly and noisy centre. The breakfasts were more than enough... More
