We stayed at the Hotel Aaculaax for 10 days on a recent visit to San Marcos. I cannot say enough good things about our time there. Since we made our reservations late and they did not have one room available for ten days, we were in 3 different rooms during our stay, the Mirador, Sirena and Alain, but this just... More

If you want to relax with nature, sleep with windows and doors open to the elements, take a shower "al aire libre", this is the place for you. Awesome views of the three volcanoes, just at the edge of the lagoon. The people very friendly.

The rooms are very stylish with funky and interesting art and nice views over the San Pedro Volcano. The garden and terrace are really relaxing. We did not understand the room pricing, but we got a cute room with shared bathroom for 120 quetzal!

we arrived at the hotel and asked for vacancy. the super friendly manager immediately offered to show us all rooms available so we could pick the one we liked best. we stayed in sunrise which is just amazing! huge tall windows all around, high ceiling, a nice comfortable bed with super clean white cotton sheets and a view of the... I travelled to San Marcos with my girlfriend, we picked the hotel from the description in Lonley Planet, we didn't really know what to expect, but we liked the desrciption of using recycled material and their care for the environment. When we arrived and were shown the rooms by Ariana, we were blown away, we looked at several rooms but... More

My friend and I really enjoyed our short stay at the Aaculaax in San Marcos. When we read how unique it was in design and artistic expression we were curious and when we got there were delighted with our room and our bathroom. The windows and murals and lights were so different. It was a cultural experience just waking up... More

My wife and I were recommended this hotel by some fellow travelers we met on the flight down from Tikal. Could not have been happier with the room. Staff was bilingual, rooms were clean and unusual. Would have like to have been able to stay in one of the tower rooms (they were outrageous), but the room we had was... More

My partner and I spent 3 nights at Aaculax and it's certainly a beautiful location and the hotel itself is pretty extraordinary. San Marcos is a very alternative town, so if this is your scene, you'll love it, but if you're looking for more of an evening culture with bars etc... you are better off basing yourself in San Pedro.... Friends and I stayed here last weekend (2/12/12) and thought the views were just heavenly from our room. While I also felt the rooms were a bit overpriced for the island, and we did not get a room for three as anticipated, the ambiance and location made up for the cramped sleeping conditions. Anyway we were only there for the... More
