We were really blown away by this chateau. My husband and I felt immensely priviledged being able to settle down in deep cushioned antique chairs (museum pieces i guess) in front of a roaring fire and sip delicious Loire wine with a good read in surroundings that a C17th Marquis would have felt quite a home in. Although we were...

We enjoyed our 3 night stay as part of a birthday event, and could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Charles Henri and Sofie made us feel welcomed. The Orangerie (formal garden) is stunningly well done and fragrant. If you are looking for 4 stars, and a generic room, or room service and someone to wait on you, do not come...

We didn't want to stay, after we have seen the room and chateau itself, still the owner didn't want to give us the money back (I understand he needs money, but it's not our problem). The travelling agency, that we will never use the service again, finally gave us the half of the sum back after months of quarell.

The remote and natural beauty of the gardens, moat, orchard and resident horses may set this Chateau apart from others found on the beaten tracks surrounding the Loire. The accommodation within the castle was beautiful, but was by no means the standards you might expect in an expensive hotel. The stories described by the host (the Count) enabled the castle...

I felt welcomed here, much more so than at Chateaux de Villeray, de la Verrerie, de la Bourdaisiere or La Mas de Montet. I felt after a very short time that I was visiting close friends or family. Chateau de St Loup reeks with history, but this place definitely lacks the formality that I experienced elsewhere, and this is in...

Our stay in the Hotel was one of the worst travel experiences we've ever had.
The whole "chateau" is in dire conditions not to mention the rooms which are filthy and worn out. The price is exorbitant for what it offers. By all means avoid this hotel!

The location and meals were superb! The ambiance was key. When you stay at a Chateau, the expectation is that you are going to have a once in a lifetime experience. We did. The chateau and it's picturesque grounds, surrounding villages and scenery were all that we had hoped for. In addition, the owners were great company and were excellent...

I wish we’d read the previous posts before booking. Our experience was very similar. We stayed for one night in September 2008 and the Keep was freezing cold. That said, the building was spectacular and the room was large and well furnished.
The gardens and chateau were very picturesque and we spent some pleasant hours wandering around the grounds.

We found staying at the chateau a wonderful experience. It was a little on the expensive side (we paid 190 euros) due to the lack of amenities, but you are paying for the luxuary of staying in a beautiful 17th century piece of french history, so it was worth it. We arrived after dark and were greeted at the gate...
