Arriving in the middle of january we were the only people staying in the bards den. When I entered the room the owner has given us she was just about to clean it up a little bit (like bringing out the rubbish). Hopefully she did it properly before we arrived! The room was very small, the beds old and very... More

We had booked the old monastery, but he had overbooked, and sent us here. We had a six bed room for 3 of us. The door did not even close, never mind lock, so we ended up carrying everything with us. Although tv was promised, this turned out to be rte 1 in a glorious but unwatchable pink hue. There... More

We stayed 4 nights in August 2012. Pros: Fantastic location - ideal for trekking, biking etc. Connemara is soo beautifull! It stole my heart on the first evening when we drove R344 from Recess towards Letterfrack. The mountains, lakes.... such lovely views! Oh, just mind the crazy sheep on the road ;) Fantastic host - very friendly and welcoming, when... More

Room basic and on the small side but clean and fully functional. Great location and the adjoining bar is well run by excellent friendly staff who help create a great atmosphere with food and beer in the bar of good quality. Ideal stop off for 1 or 2 nights and excellent value for money

We stayed for two nights and found the hostel to be basic but clean and comfortable, all you can ask for the price. The rooms were fine, the breakfast area large and the plentiful supply of tea, toast and cereal most welcome. We ate in the adjoining bar one night and the food was excellent. We found Heather to be... More

We spent two nights in Bards Den. Excellent location - at N59 road (very easy to find), in five minutes walking to Connemara national park entrance, road to Renvyle Peninsula just from the door. Main business for hosts is bar that is possibly very good and becomes the center of Letterfrack life at night, but obviously they have not very... More

Stayed in the Hostel, basic but comfortable and inexpensive. Food and drink in the bar was really good, daily seafood special were great! Service is very good! Never had to visit the bar, the girls keep you topped up! Free Wifi is nice also!

I spent a week in the Bards Den & BB in Letterfrack. I had a room for three but was lucky to have it all week for myself first week in May 2012 as a season did not start. There is a large kitchen where you can cook if you like. Breakfast is included. Place is very quite and nice.... More

Great hostel in the centre of Letterfrack village and only a couple of minutes walk from the beautiful Connemara National Park. Breakfast was orange juice, selection of cereals and tea/coffee/hot chocolate and toast with a whole host of jams and chocolate spreads. Room we stayed in (an 8 bed mixed dorm) was spacious and clean. Bunk beds were large and... More
