We stopped for 1 night en route. Excellent, friendly pub; our room was a decent size, spotlessly clean, good plumbing. In the CAMRA good beer guide, deservedly so. Food was not haute cuisine but good pub grub, with generous portions. Thoroughly recommend.

We stayed 2 nights to get away from London and had a great stay. The rooms were immaculately clean, the staff really friendly and helpful; all this topped off with the best breakfast ever! A lovely, cosy pub hotel.

The Red Lion is an old-fasioned countryside pub, which also serves food and offers accommodation. There is a large separate dining room where good food at good value is served.
