Having grown up in Gairloch we are regular visitors back to Gairloch to see family and the beach at Big Sand is a second home in the summer come rain, hail or shine. We decided to get a tourist eye view and for one night take the kids (3 and 5) to the wigwams as a special treat. Can't rate... More

What a place! The location of this campground was amazing. Right on the beach in amongst the sand dunes! You could park pretty much any were you wanted. This would be a perfect location for a summer vacation. We were not blessed with the best weather but we were there to see Scotland and its wild best! The staff were... More

This was our first visit and certainly not our last. We had a great time and the Wigwams were a great balance between camping and caravaning. The rooms were very cozy and dry with electric points for your gadgets! The shower/dinning areas were both clean and tidy. At this time of year we had no issues with over crowding or... More

I've lived in the Highlands for 10 years and the views here still keep me up at night. For the best effect try to stay within the 6 weeks around mid-summer. It just doesn't go dark and you get the most spectacular sunsets reflecting on the mountains to the south. Services are great but we all come here (lots of... More

Camped up here for the second time this summer and as always great time was had by all, adults, kids and animals. Campfires on the beach with meteor showers overhead! Facilities are clean and well kept and shop is fairly reasonable and they bake their own croissants. Now, the midges..........well if you're going to the west coast you have to... More

We have been back to Sands again and again over the years as we are never disappointed. Friendly and helpful reception/shop staff. Well stocked shop. Well kept site and toilet/shower blocks. A sandcastle competition on a Tuesday, which my son loved! Actually, I do have one complaint - midges!! Not much we can do about them though, so remember the... More

(UK) We followed the different tourist guides to choose this camping park in gairloch, attracted by the fantastic scenery. It is true the campsite provide fantastic view on the bay. However, this really positive point was outweighted by the cleanliness of the sanitarium. In addition they can be located very far away from your tent depending on how the camping... More

we had a great time camping here with a large group of 10. We managed to get a pitch right beside sand dunes which then lead onto the spotless beach. Shower facilities are basic but clean and large with individual shower cubicles which are partitioned into a wet shower area and dry area for clothes by a shower curtain. Only... More

We really enjoyed our stay at this campsite. The site itself is huge with plenty of space and even though it was reasonably busy when we were there, it never felt crowded. We stayed in one of the small wigwams, which was the perfect size for the two of us and the dog. My husband was pleased to see a... More

FOR: a fairly remote camp site, 55 acres, with superb views across the sea to Skye and a lovely clean sandy beach gently shelving beneath the clear blue sea.The weather was hot during our stay and wind speeds were low or negligible. The grass pitches for the tents were good and there was a fair selection with sea views to... More
