I stayed in this hotel with my family when we attended a family wedding at a nearby hotel. The price for a family room was £110.00 a night plus an extra £15.00 supplement for each child (making a 2 night stay £280.00). Although I felt this was a little expensive, it was a special occasion I was prepared to spend... More

I spent three very pleasant days in Kelso which was certainly helped by staying in this very pleasant hotel in the centre of the town. It looks on to the Woodmarket and magnificent town hall/information centre which was built in 1696. The hotel itself was built in 1769 but you would not guess that when you step inside. It has... Lunch on Sunday with the family whilst up on holiday. The Resturant itself was pretty dated and rather dark. There was also a very annoying cold draught comimg from the fire door which was wide open. Reasonable choice on the menu. The carvery was very dissapointing but individual items from the menu were somewhat better. You get the impression that... More

Second visit to this Hotel...and just as good as the first time. Very friendly and helpful staff; first-class breakfasts; and an excellent menu choice for dinner.

Just back from a Saturday overnight stay at the Cross keys. We were a party of 6 (and a 22 month child) including 4 old grandparents. The Hotel is excellent. Staff very friendly. Food excelent quality and rooms are a good size. Excellent value for money. At breakfast they couldn't do enough for us. Would not hesitate to go back... More

This great place is right in the town centre. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room is gorgeous and has every thing you need plus a few thing you don't but are great to have! Was a bit more than we wanted to spend but we didn't mind after staying a night. Other (smaller) places we had... More

I am surprised to say that I was really impressed and so was the misses 'which never happens'.. anyways we headed down on the Saturday afternoon and was greeted by a real cheery receptionist who gave us the lay of the land.. the rooms were comfortable with... We tried the Cross Keys for lunch and while one meal was OK, the smoked fish they served was not right. The waitress was indifferent to the pile of bones removed and it's the first time a steak knife would help cutting the fish.

You can't find a better location than the Cross Keys, and luckily the experience matches up. Is it the Georges V in Paris? No, but it is perfectly located if you're visiting the Borders, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food and bar are relatively basic, but they are good value, and...
