My wife and I spent 3 nights here during the Wigtown Book Festival. This is a simple hotel, right in the middle of Wigtown and I cannot recommend the friendly service high enough. A bit old fashioned in decor (I really like the engravings of 'Sheep in the Snow') but up-to-date with welcome. I shall make it my stop again.

This hotel has changed hands recently and been given a facelift, both outside and in. The rooms are of a contemporary design, very comfortable and good value. Spent some time in Wigtown recently and can recommended the Ploughman Hotel.The hotel is an older building and the en-suite room was functional and clean and even had a mini-fridge,as well as TV and kettle.The powershower was excellent with hot water available at any time of the day.The food was very good too and also reasonably priced.The hosts and their...
