We stayed at ShigarFort for 3 days. Its simply awesome!! Aga Khan foundation has done a great job on its restoration. You can feel the old historical environment with all the modern comforts. After reading all the reviews here, we decided to stay in the heritagr suite - pricey but worth it. It had a double bed , a mattress... More

Where in the world world can we get the opportunity to go and stay in a 400 year old fort that offers all the modern amenities and the most amazing organic fresh food cooked to your individual tastes. The rooms are small as they are the original old rooms of the fort but on entering one is surprised by the... More

Staying at Shigar Fort is a truly unforgettable experience. The drive from Skardu to Shigar passes through a landscape unlike any I had seen. Vast river valleys, sandy plains, towering peaks. It was the most stunning approach. The Fort itself is tucked away at the outskirts of a small village, next to a gushing meltwater stream that gives the soundtrack... More

I have just returned from an amazing time at Shigar Fort. Originally I just wasnt sure if I should stay in Skardu or in Shigar - I am now SOOOO glad that I stayed in Shigar and at Shigar Fort. This is cultral heritage tourism at its best. The fort has been beautifully restored and converted into a boutique hotel.... More

The Shigar Fort Hotel is simply exceptional - truely world class. I had the great pleasure to stay for three days during a two-week holiday in Northern Pakistan. The building is a 400 plus year old fort restored to exceptionally high standard by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture that was subsequently converted to a hotel. It is now managed... More

For me Skardu is the most beautifull place of the north areas of Pakistan. Furthermore, a stay at the Shigar Fort is quite magical. It was the most authentic trip that I ve ever had hitherto. The hotel is run by the Aga Khan Foundation, which manage also the Serena hotel chain but Shigar fort is not a luxury hôtel,... More

Shigar Fort Residence is an unexpected oasis of both history and modern amenities in the heart of Pakistan's spectacularly mountainous northern areas. In a region better known for hard-core mountain expeditions, this meticulously restored, 17th century fort now offers quiet serenity and relaxation to casual travelers and die-hard trekkers alike. The Shigar valley runs north from Skardu, the central city... More
