We were only here for one night. The name brought with it great expectations. I can't say it really lived up to what I had expected, but it is a very nice hotel. I was especially disappointed with the quality of the food in the restaurant. Otherwise, the room was spacious, clean, well-furnished, but dark. It needed about twice the... More

Stayed here in November 2011 for a conference. I suppose for the area it is a nice hotel but there are newer ones close by that were probably more comfortable. The air conditioning barely worked. It was also very loud at night. You could hear people at the bar and restaurant because of the open courtyard. On two occasions we... More

On our recent car trip to San Cristobal from Oaxaca we stopped first in Tuxtla for two nights. I choose this hotel based on what I know of the magnificent Camino Real here in Oaxaca and, it offered a spa where I was going to surprise my wife with its services. It was a great disappointment. First, the bathrooms had... More

Was just in the hotel for one evening - arrived pretty late, then went out right away for dinner, and left in the morning. Was able to form some opinions, though. Overall, seems like an ok place - room pretty modern and well furnished, decent internet. Some of the things that were off or could use improvement included: - there... More

We weren't expecting much and actually it was not a bad experience. Nothing special about the place but we slept well and the service overall was ok, except at the restaurant where we waited for a very long time for our food when we were actually the only one there... Quite far away from the airport so not so convenient.

We stayed here twice and were very well treated both times, actually the second time, the manager upgraded us to a nicer room at no charge. The only difficulty was very few employees spoke any English and our Spanish was minimal. But it all worked out and the management helped us arrange a van to Chiapas. The hotel is stylish... More

Excellent hotel, brilliant, clean, comfy rooms. The porters were really good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good parking. Restaurant La Mansion is within the same complex and serves nice steak at fair prices. The pool is too cold in winter.

Sadly, this hotel really lacks. Service (front desk and any in-room requests) were almost non-existent. Restaurant service and cab service was very good. We expected a big generic hotel, but thought the service would be a bit better. Just really blah. I’d stay at one of the smaller, local “less fancy” hotels next time for sure.

We stay here occasionally when in Chiapas as our jumping off point to other, more quaint towns in the area. The Camino Real is always reliably comfortable: good beds, nice bathrooms, clean rooms. If you stay on the fifth floor you also get free cocktails and snacks for the evening (now they serve it in the bar by the pool),... More

This is a beautiful hotel, the architecture is impressive, like many of the other el camino hotels in Mexico. However, when we checked in on a sunday, we went down to the restaurant for a quick meal as we were planning to visit he excellent zoo in town. We were told by our waiter that ala carte was not available,... More
