There just isn't any place like Burg Bernstein! From the legend of the resident ghost, The White Lady (who, unfortunately, has been absent during both our visits) to the wonderful food served in the candle-lit Knights' Hall, this is so much more than a hotel. Wander the hallways and see historical displays dating back centuries, then venture into the winding... More

First, let me say that we are seasoned travelers and have traveled extensively in Europe and Asia. Few weeks ago we stayed 2 nights in Burg Bernstein which was recommended by Karen Brown Austria guide. Here’s the summary of our trip. Unbelievable Rudeness by the Owner. The owner greeted us upon arrival with what I can best describe as “sarcastic... More

We visited Hotel Burg Bernstein more than once because it is a great place for relaxing - especially when you have to travel a lot for business and fed up with sleeping in the ordinary 4star-hotel rooms. So we enjoy this very special and authentic place. The owners, Andrea & Alexander Berger-Almasy, are charming and hospitable. They made us feel... More

The castle once was one of the most important and oldest fortifications in Burgenland. As hotel guests we were amazed and very impressed by the wonderful view over the rolling hills of southern Burgenland and Eastern Styria, the history and ambiance of the whole castle. It has been continuously in use by the same family for hundreds of years and... More

We visited Hotel Burg Bernstein for 4 days as a side trip to a business meeting to Frankfurt. The owners, Andrea & Alexander Berger-Almasy are charming and hospitable and made us feel welcome from the moment of our arrival, when we enjoyed a bottle of wine and wonderful assortment of "snacks" in the sunshine in the courtyard. The hotel is... More

I booked a room with Alex Berger-Almásy in mid-April. I had never been to Austria before and was finding it difficult to work out the best way to travel to the castle. Politely, I asked for advice about transportation (buses/trains etc.) ...and after three email exchanges I received this response just a few weeks before our planned stay: "dear annie... More

It was an enchanting stay! A real trip, with an incredible feedback of sensations that you could never feel in another place. The "sound of the silence all around"... the light of the candles in the dinner room....the magnificient courtyard for the breakfast... This is a place more that magic. Experience that is unique in our modern life style. To be welcome in this multi-lingual family it was a huge pleasure. Entrance throug the big gate with old wood gate to the castel area, later an other huge gate going into castel courtyard when, in this time were guest having breakfast outside in... More
