For me this is the antidote to a low cost airline flight and the bus trip from Palma’s airport through the urban sprawl: get off at Plaça d’Espanya and walk fifty yards west (ignoring the subway to the flashy modern transport hub) to reach a century old cast iron gateway that has ‘Ferrocarril de Sóller’ incorporated and take the hundred... We stayed a week at El Guia, using it as a base for walks on the coast and in the mountains of northern Mallorca. The half-board deal gave us chances to eat real Mallorcan food in the evenings and the breakfasts were great with fresh pastries and local orange juice. We only ate out one evening in Soller and were... More

We stayed at Hotel El Guia for a week's walking holiday in March/April with my brother and sister in law and their son and had a very good time. El Guia is a plain, straightforward, family run hotel, good value, spotlessly clean, good sized rooms, but low on facilities and somewhat old fashioned. Wifi is available in the entrance hall... As others have said, location excellent if you don't have any private transport. Rooms are spotless, traditional and everything worked. The hotel is run well, and the breakfast has lovely fresh pastries. Don't go if you are looking for quick 'fast food' type experience. The waiter has been there for years, he is very formal and his english is limited... More

Tucked away in a quiet side street just fifty metres from the station exit, and a few minutes walk from the town square, the location could hardly be better, particularly if you are not using a car. We were staying right at the end of the season and there was only one other guest, so our impressions may not be... More

We arrived via the Soller antique train, and there was the hotel, right next door. Treatment was excellent, rooms clean and basic, restaurant food was superb. Service can be a little old fashioned, and , no, there is no elevator. But if you want to be near the tram, the square, great sights and shopping, this place has it all.

I have never had such a scandalously rude and unwelcoming reception in a hotel, and so I feel compelled to write this review. We had a late flight and arrived at El Guia at 9:30 pm on a Friday, as agreed with the hotel owner. By email she had said it was no problem for us to eat dinner in... More

Lovely little hotel with a restaurant just tucked up a side street near to the train station in Soller - we decided we'd go for a meal after my boyfriend read about it in one of the Soller town guides. Very quaint, felt a little like we were stepping back in time but boy, what a welcome. We were greeted... More

On a recent trip to Mallorca, Spain, I stayed in the lovely mountain town of Soller at Hotel El Guia, located next to the famous old tram station. Don't worry---there was no noise and no crowds of tourists given the proximity to the station. Lonely Planet rates this a budget hotel, but it doesn't feel budget. Compared to the prices... More

This small hotel is clean, quiet, and well located next to the rail station. I like being 30 seconds from the train; if I had a car, I would rent an agroturismo room in the countryside. I reserved by phone and e-mail and Catia the proprietor did not ask for my credit card to hold the reservation. The room was... More
