My husband and I recently visited Big Bear Lake for the first time. We booked this resort based on Trip Advisor reviews. It was wonderful. Check in was a breeze and our cabin, #16, was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped. The boat dock and lake are just steps away from the cabin. My... More

Had a lot of fun great location with private docks in case you want to bring your boat not far from town there's a nice steak house right down the way. And about 2 miles from the grocery stores you're right next to the slopes and literally on the lake it's a great place especially for the value!!!!!

The staff was very accommodating and even upgraded our room at no extra charge because we came during an off time. The room we got overlooked the lake and was quiet and peaceful. It was the perfect getaway we were looking for. The kitchen in the room was was such a nice upgrade; it had everything we needed (fridge, stove,... More

I stayed there last Christmas. I was their with my sons for a ski trip. Our needs were simple: good beds to sleep, kitchen for breakfast, paved parking spot. We skied all day so didn't get to use any services. It met all my requirements at a reasonable price per night. In our previous trips to Big Bear we had... More

The staff were very friendly and actually gave us a better room than we booked because there were so many vacancies which was really nice. The room was clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen. This place is a very sweet affordable lodge I would recommend it to anyone!

Alyssa--Thanks very much for staying with us and sharing your experience. You came up at a great time.....right after the holidays....so I'm glad we had units available to offer the upgrade. This is something we like to do whenever possible so that guests can be closer to the lake. Please visit us again when you have an opportunity. More

Mallard Bay Resort was recommended to us from some friends at my daughter's school. I AM in the hospitality business and I didn't know what to expect from a small independent mountain resort. I travel all over the US and sometimes international and have stayed in hotels/motels/resorts from 2 star to 5 star levels. However, knowing my line of work... More

This was an excellent place to stay. As a seasoned traveler, just got back from Africa, I really enjoyed my experience. Mallard Bay is clean, quiet, and secluded. I am of Asian descent and disagree with the previous review. I was informed of the rules and regulations, including the occupancy and use rules, but I understand the financial concerns linked... We met our daughter and Grand Daughter up in Big Bear Lake at Mallard Bay Resort. The owners made us feel right at home and welcomed us as family. What a great place to stay and they have the nicest and the best maintained swimming pool in town. They also provided a band Labor Day weekend along with a potluck... More

Avoid Mallard Bay Resort in Big Bear, CA! The owner is in the hospitality business, but is not at all hospitable! He promises you a resort stay, but gives you the boarding school treatment. Why: 1) Maybe he has some prejudices that caused him to worry about renting the room to my family. 2) Maybe he is indifferent to providing... More

We take great pride in our family resort and in taking care of all of our guests. We cannot allow out guests to bring outside people in as it is not fair to the other paying guests. We tried to diplomatically explain this and obviously it was not received well. Each room has a maximum occupancy allowance determined by the... More

My family stayed at this place for 2 nights and had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the facility is very clean. We appreciate that the place has a private dock. Although we didn't have a boat, our 7-year-old son loved casting a line for fishing in the early morning on the dock. It was... More
