On our trip to Yosemite we stopped at Bridgeport the night before. As in many other small towns close to tourist attractions, we noticed a pretty high and conspiciously similar price level at all local hotels/inns. The guy at the Bodie hotel was very nice and helpful and after some haggling offered us a supposingly good deal (65$ ex tax).... More

We were passing through on our way to Lake Tahoe and needed a place to stay that night and it was the only hotel with availability. We were charged $100 for a room and a hotel in horrible condition. We took the back entrance to the hotel and we could see ply wood floors when we opened the hotel door... More

Don't stay here if you expect luxury. But, if you like historical places, this is a great place to stay for its character. We thought the room was in excellent shape considering the age of the building. The bed was surprisingly very comfortable, and the mild temperatures in Bridgeport allowed us to open the windows for a cool and calming... More

One stays here for its history and character, and you shouldn't expect all the modern luxuries. The decor is certainly unique, "bordello-chic" would probably be the closest description. Having visited Bodie just before reaching Bridgeport, this building is in remarkably good condition considering its contemporaries in the desert. It is still moderately rickety, and certainly my bed was, being partly... More

Bridgport is a nice little town that is full of life during the summer months and this hotel is no different. My husband and I stayed here and really enjoyed the entire experience. This hotel is definitely one of a kind from its rickety staircase and velvet wallpaper to its shag carpet. The rickety staircase only adds to the whole... More

Quaint may the most positive way to describe this hotel. The room we had was one of their larger rooms with two queen beds. Pros: Room looked attractive with wall paper and antique furniture. The beds were comfortable with very good pillows. Cons: The room had no air conditioner. With the windows open and a fan blowing, the temperature was... More

I stayed here for four miserable nights. It is a form of bed and breakfast/boarding house run by a woman who takes care of her mentally handicapped daughter. It is a two story Victorian era house that was brought over from the mining town of Bodie in the late 1800s. It was then converted into a boarding house, with each... More

My sister and I arrived here late after spending the day in Death Valley - all other motels we drove past in 3 other towns stated 'no vacancy'. There had to be a reason why this was the only place with a vacancy and there was. The place is very weird and run by a funny little woman - it... More

I booked a room here for a last minute trip to Bodie, CA. It was extremely inexpensive ($45 for 2 people). Personally, I liked it. It definitely had character. However, the furniture is extremely old and the decor was a bit off the wall (gold wallpaper, shag carpeting). The woman who checked us in asked specifically that we treat the... More

Weel there is little choice in that town if you need to stay the night, the other motel is expensive for what it looked. The Victorian hotel smelt damp and most things were rickety, stairs etc. But we had lots of room. We had to dudt it , using facecloths, first. The shower/bathroom was fine, and lots of hot water....
