We like the clean, quiet, noncommercial feel of the place including the doorstep breakfast and the afternoon cookies in the lobby. The staff is helpful. We never stay anywhere else. The price breaks for returning customers are obviously important. The place takes us back to simpler times. Don't change it. Don't "fix" it. We love the kitchenettes and the size... More

We thought the outdoor fireplace was very nice. Enjoyed using it and met some very interesting people while down there. The room was very nice. Enjoyed the breakfast.

Located in the heart of 'downtown' Carmel - if such a thing exists - easy walking distance from the shops and restaurants in this very cutesy, tourist-centric district of the Monterey peninsula. These are stylishly modern, quality rooms which look to have been recently decorated to a high standard - the smell of new carpet and the quality of the... More

Our room was perfect, I loved having the 3 beds, loved having a fireplace with plenty of logs. I also thought the breakfast that was dropped off outside our door was wonderful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The coffee in the lobby was great as well as the fire pit.

Comfortable room, nice functional kitchen, fireplace with logs provided daily. The morning continental breakfast and newspaper delivered to the door was an extra nice feature. The location is perfect for exploring the coast, or walking through the galleries and shops.

This is the best location in town--you can walk everywhere. Staff is fantastic, although we miss the older guy who retired. The rooms are old fashioned, but perfectly comfortable and again- this is a perfect location for anything that happens in Carmel.

Well, let's just say I wasn't pleasantly surprised...Let me start off on a positive note: the location is really good. End positive note. The lobby is tiny- One small room. Nothing fancy. Upon entering the rooms, (we had booked 2 separate deluxe rooms; one with 2 double beds, the other with 1 king - both had kitchens, jacuzzis and fireplaces)... More

We enjoyed the location of the property and it's close proximity to town and restaurants. It was roomy enough for three adults. The outside fireplace was charming. We enjoyed the breakfasts left on our doorstep. All staff that we dealt with were kind and helpful. Liked the kitchen, livingroom with sitting area. In room fireplace was nice.

Nice size room with king bed, fireplace and small kitchen with dining table. The mini-suite had a traditional, English feel. A breakfast basket was delivered to our door each morning with fresh pastries, etc. Yum. This is an older building, but very clean and charming, don't expect modernity here! It is right in Carmel so easy walking around town. All... More

I don't mind old, but I expect cleanliness. Bathroom floor black with dirt, bathroom counter covered with orange ooze. Pillowcases stained. Heater coming loose from wall and filthy with diust and dirt and bugs crawling in crack. We had "deluxe" room! Continental breakfast cheap. Warm milk, stale rolls and ceral. Better to stay next door at Fireplace Inn, which we've... More
