I guess it should be obvious that different people have different standards, but I saw nothing during my stay that would encourage me to write a good review of this hotel. The Carmel Wayfarer Inn looks like a 1940's or 1950's motel that has little in the way of updates since it was built. The furniture was old and showed...

Having stayed 5 times at the Wayfarer Inn over the last 20 years -- most recently in 2007 -- the Inn appears to have changed hands since 2007, but is a lovely as ever, if not even nicer.
We arrived late on a Friday afternoon, after a business meeting in Monterey just minutes away, and were ready to relax --...

The rooms were simple but very charming, clean, and spacious. We are a family of four and brought our dog and had plenty of room. The proprietors were friendly and made us feel at home. The hotel has a wonderful courtyard where we lounged and enjoyed a nice glass of the complementary wine before dinner. The complaint about serving Trader...

Yes these rooms are very reasonable during the week but unfortunately I felt that the inn proprietors were doing everything on the cheap from breakfast to the wine, from cleaning to basic maintenance. The towels are worse than Motel 6, our room was not clean in the corners and our bed linens were not changed. The wine they tell you...

We stayed one night in Wayfarer Inn. It's a small and affordable place, but in no way cheap! It has a certain charm, the room was very nice with wide windows and great view. The breakfast was nice and adequate. The location is great, walking distance to shops, restaurants and about 10 min walk to the beach. The staff were...

We stayed in room no 4 on the ground floor. It had its own little kitchen which was nice but the whole place needs a little maintenance. All rooms are up some stairs so be aware if you have lots of luggage. The breakfast was fine, cereals, breads and waffles. Nice courtyard area for the free wine tasting.
First time in Carmel couldn't have been any more wonderful. The Wayfarer Inn was a cheap place to stay close to the shops, restaurants, and beauty of downtown Carmel, and a short walk from the beach. The staff was AMAZING!!! the man at the front desk was helpful to no end. Free wine from 4-6 on the daily. Room was...

Although the staff at the Wayfarer is both accomodating and pleasant, they cannot make up for the many updates this hotel needs. There is a need for paint, decor, and the towels were the thinnest I have ever seen....ever! There are many hotels in Carmel needing renovating and the beauty and charm of the village cannot make up for the...

Fantastic location, complimentary great tasting wine from 4-6, friendly staff, beautiful little garden quad with tables and chairs, about the most reasonable rates you'll find (use their website, $85 winter rates though around $200 summer) five minutes from downtown, most reasonable restaurant (actually a tavern) in Carmel with best clam chowder I've ever had 50 yards down the street. Four...
