Update: the Swiss Chalet is no longer operating as a motel as of the 2011/2012 ski season. You might try the Holiday House across the street for close and cheap. They just renovated this summer, new beds, flat-screen TVs, re-worked Jacuzzi, etc.

This place was surely the place to stay back in the 80's for the partying skier. It still looks like everything is the same, and that's because it probably is. We stayed here for the first time in December.. after some light cash only haggling, we got a deal for about $70 a night with our 2 pups, midweek. Only... More

This place recently changed management, so I would take the older reviews with a grain of salt. I stay here almost every ski trip (and a few summer trips). The rooms are OK, but clean and functional with working heaters. Jucuzzi is indoors and convenient, espeicially if you are on the 2nd floor. Some don't like the decor, but I... More

We love a bargain. This is not one. Sometimes cheap places aren't worth the money. The room was full of moths. 15 - 20 of them. It lacks air conditioning and the double pane windows are screwed up. (Inside slider opens at the left; outside slider opens at the right. So it's impossible to have an open window. Just as... More

With the Swiss flag flying upon arrival, the Swiss Chalet appeared as an early outpost of Switzerland that the Swiss government abandoned after California was ceded to the United States in 1848. At the office we were greeted by the innkeeper who we initially mistook for Tommy Chong. He appeared to have run out of gas money after a Dead... More

If you are a core snowboarder or skier then this place is totally for you. People are nice.. Stayed there for yearsssss!!! The Rooms are not much but they are warm and the beds comfortable. Respect gets Respect.. If you are looking to be fully catered to then perhaps you should stay at the 80/50 Club.

After reading all the terrible reviews on this site I was a bit hesitant in reserving a room here for Martin Luther King weekend. I decided to take a risk anyway and I do not regret it. This is obviously not the Hyatt but for a motel it is a very nice place. The rooms were spacious and very clean.... More

We only stayed for a night to break the drive from Yosemite to Vegas, and I wouldn't recommend staying for more than that! The motel is pretty run down and the rooms were fairly basic and straight out of the 1960s.... my wife was pretty suspicious about staying here because it looked dirty. The bed was clean (we think) and... More
