I drove up from LA to see the Trail of 100 Giants. I had planned to stay overnight but had not reservations. I made my way towards Kernville and stopped by McNally's General store to ask for directions to a dog friendly motel/hotel. Well, lucky me, beside the General Store is a pet friendly lodge! I was traveling with just myself and my dog. The room was large, covers comfortable. There is a river right behind the lodge which I absolutely loved. The water was cold but I still enjoyed it. I had absolutely no cell service here but they do have wifi, which was a plus. I ate at the restaurant beside the lodge and had filet mignon. The food was great. The next morning, I drove 15 min into the city of Kerrville for breakfast bc McNally's doesn't open for breakfast until 11am. I had a great stay and would def return. If you absolutely need cell service. I would recommend driving 15 miles past this place into the town. …

Stopped by for ice cream and a few sundries. The place is under new ownership and they seem very nice! Can't wait to see them next time! They had everything we would need and more (and for a Labor Day Weekend to know they weren't sold out of everything, was great!) Friendly, busy, great place to stop.

The McNally Burgers are back! And delicious. A perfect way to spend an afternoon. They are open from 10 - 4. On Friday Saturday and Sundays now during their winter hours. The Lodge is open and so is the restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant setting on the Kern River, with a large bar, outside seating and plenty of indoor tables. They specialize in their steaks and prime rib, and cut their own meat for the table. Behind the restaurant is an awesome foot bridge that crosses the Kern River, which is a "must-do" if you visit the restaurant.

Johnny’s is back. That s a good thing. Steak that melts in your mouth! Wow I live in Alabama now. Wishin’ I was a local again. The service is out of this world too! Making this dining experience the best of my life. I travel quite a bit, so that is saying a lot. To the owners and staff: thank you for an awesome dining experience!

We went to the Kern to go rafting. It was so nice to not have to set up a tent and have our comfy accommodations. I was a little concerned that the extra room keys seemed so accessible in the general store.

This review is more about the eats than the sleeps. This is an excellent steak house on the Kern River about 30 minutes north of Kernville. Call ahead for reservations and to insure their open. Seems their open only on the weekends. The proportions are huge and can easily be split between two people, especially with the awesome home made desserts. My wife and I have been here three time and always the same - excellent. We enjoy the 1.5 hour drive from Bakersfield to talk about life and enjoy being with others. This place makes for the perfect stop and turnaround on a Sunday drive. Really friendly staff. Oh yes, the burger shack is also EXCELLENT!

On a recent trip to the kern river we stopped in at McNally's Lodge and Restaurant. The service was very nice. The food plentiful however my ribeye was a touch over seasoned and a touch underdone but very good never the less. A little pricey but affordable.

A couple of friends and I had dinner here on the banks of the Kern River. A real old school place with a rustic feel. A nice full bar and pleasant staff. The filet with butterfly shrimp was excellent. Also good drinks and ok wine list. It is fun to have great food in a very out of the way place. enjoy!

Stayed in a fifth wheel trailer and was very comfortable. The air conditioner was great and bed comfortable. We ate twice at Mcnallys and food and service was very good. They had a well stocked bar for drinks. Most of the little things we needed, were flund at the store. We plan to go back.
