We came to Kings Beach with accommodations booked elsewhere, but got cancelled with only an hour before check-in. Thankfully I remembered considering the Stevenson's Holliday Inn since they were the only other pet friendly establishment I had found. Walked down the street and talked to the manager about availability, sure enough they had a room and were able to offer it to us. After an exhausting day due to the other place, we were very relieved to get into a room. Our daughter immediately was excited to jump into bed after camping for a couple nights.

STAY AWAY! DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY! The mattress, linens, floors, walls, furniture, towels, and shower curtain were stained and dirty. The shower was moldy, and grout was missing from the tiles. The matress caved in the middle, and the pillows were flat and yellow. Thank goodness I always travel with my own pillow. I'm shocked how expensive it was and not maintained. We had a quick stay overnight during the off-season. I would not recommend staying here.

If you're looking for high brow luxury accommodations this isn't it. However, it fit the bill for what we needed. We were only staying 1 night in the area before going to another spot on Tahoe and Stevensons had an opening. It was affordable, it was clean, and it was close to the lake and to food. Easy walking distance to much of what you'd want to do. It's an older place and they haven't done much aesthetic updating in a while, but the owner/manager is nice and helpful. The room we were in would've accommodated at least 4 somewhat comfortably. So if you want a Lake Tahoe vacation on a decent budget, this could be a good spot to consider, especially if you don't plan to spend tons of time in the room (isn't that the point of vacationing, to go out and explore?). It's a fair place to rest your head.

I want to start by saying that I'm not super picky, and rarely write negative reviews. I recently stayed at this motel for 3 nights. I saw the photos, and read the reviews, and had low expectations going in. I chose it for the location and proximity to King's Beach (which was great!), and figured it wouldn't matter much since we didn't plan to hang out at the hotel (it was just a place to sleep), but I would not stay here again. The cleanliness of the room was not acceptable. There were cobwebs on the ceilings, stains on the sheets and towels, thick layer of dust on the tv stand, random holes in the walls, bubbling and peeling wallpaper, and the shower was old and stained and the floor was peeling off. The cabinets and drawers were dirty inside, so we could not put our clothes in them. There was a futon/bench type thing in our room that was not sturdy and had stains all over it. At one point, my daughter was laying on the bed, and the headboard just randomly fell off the wall. Luckily it did not fall on her while she was sleeping! The beds were very uncomfortable and you could tell they were sunken in the middle just by looking at them. Pillows were flat and the comforters were stained. The coffee pot was broken (there was only decaf coffee anyway). The deadbolt was also broken, so we could only use the lock on the doorknob. There is no air conditioning, something to be aware of if you're staying in the summer. Also, the pool and spa both do not work. The positives are the location - quick walk to King's Beach, close walk to several restaurants, free parking, and the man in the office was very nice and helpful. But overall, I would not recommend staying here. The photos show the shower floor, holes and screws in the wall, broken (?) smoke detector, cobwebs, peeling/dirty wall, trash/furniture pile outside room, headboard that fell off the wall, and the pool.

Great price. It’s old and worn but I can’t complain based on the rate I paid, which was far less than anything else I saw in my online search. Pleasant management and I enjoyed playing ping pong and sitting outside the room. Don’t count on the pool or hot tub even during the season — appears not to be maintained.

This is likely the worst hotel we’ve stayed in. Everything is old and gross. I think that cleaning stuff is actually trying and everything was functional, but still this has to be marked as a one star place so people know what to expect and owners might act to either renovate and improve or close down.

I think it's the worst place I've ever been ... I never thought I'd spend a night (on our honeymoon) like this. We had two nights booked in this "structure", the room was dirty, yellow on the walls, hair in the sheets, carpet that will be at least 20 years old, no air conditioning, cemetery lighting. If I could give fewer stars I would, but unfortunately Google forces me to enter at least one star to give a rating. The next day we left our room keys and left, luckily we found a place in the nearby Firelite Lodge (which I highly recommend to everyone, super cute, spotless and wonderful room with lake view). Stevenson's Holliday Inn to never again !!!

For some travelers/families, Lake Tahoe resort prices can be out of reach. Thankfully, this affordable old-school motel offers clean accommodations and a swimming pool and is a short walk from a wonderful beach. Because the US is seeing heat wave temperatures this summer, keep in mind, this motel does NOT have air conditioning. Even after a hot day our room cooled down nicely in the evening using the fans provided. This would be a perfect low-cost skier's room in the winter. Nearby within walking distance: ice cream stands, burgers and fries, mini golf, Jason's lakeside dining, 7-11, bear-themed souvenirs, Tahoe t-shirt shops, Mexican restaurant. It was a pleasure to meet Neil at the front desk. We will return next year.

KIngs Beach has several older "Ski Motels" that provide basic accommodations. Though I was there during shoulder season for hiking and mountain biking, Stevenson's holds its own for basic accommodations. It's an older property with worn furniture. Though the rooms have mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffee makers. The pool and recreation room are currently closed during COVID, but the beach is a 10 minute walk. And there's a very good hamburger place next door. And they have Adirondack chairs outside each room, just like the old-school motor inns. Staff is very helpful - they even called shortly after arrival to ensure everything was okay. My room had a couple of quirks with where to plug in the mini-fridge and how to turn on the outlet with the microwave, but the staff helped me figure it out. They weren't offering a full housekeeping service late September 2020, but they stopped by to offer fresh towels / coffee / cups / soap. A lot of reviews mention room cleanliness, but I had no issues with my room. So it's far from a destination resort, but it's a reasonable no-frills place to stay if you plan to spend most of your North Shore time visiting the numerous outdoor attractions.

Stayed here for 3 nights to go hiking and biking. From the price you pay, I didn't expect anything more in terms of cleanliness. No stains or hair on the sheets or towels. Toilet, shower, microwave, and fridge all worked fine. On the last day, I noticed that there was a huge gap in the window screen. I never got any mosquito bites after sleeping with the window wide open. They do do cleaning, so if you want to opt out of it, make sure you get/use the do-not-disturb sign. I didn't have one in my room, so they went and made my bed, which I did not want because I spent time wiping, cleaning, and organizing it the way I wanted it to prevent any Corona contamination. The maid placed my personal pillow right on the couch, which is pretty gross. I'd stay here again because of the pricing and location. Can't complain Oh, the wifi and cable are spotty. Some channels won't load
