Lake Isabella is a resort community, and although it's not particularly upscale (think boats and barbecue, not golf and gourmet cuisine) the price of food and lodging is much higher than it is only an hour away by car in Bakersfield (for example.) Only stay here if there's nowhere else available. It's more expensive than the standard motel - we paid $68 + tax, which was about $60 too much.
