We stayed here in the middle of January for two nights while on a family road trip. The grounds were nice, the care taker was friendly and helpful but there were a few issues. We knew that it was rural, that there was no television or internet, our cell phones probably wouldn't work and the closest store was an hour... More

Thank you for visiting the Big Bend Lodge, your feedback is truly valued. We are so glad that you enjoyed the remote and beautiful surroundings, it is a very special spot. We apologize for the lack of fire wood. The January time frame that you stayed was the coldest of the season, and we usually do not have issues with... More

This is a basic motel/camp with a great spot, good fun and easy going pace. Don't expect to be a modern traveler here. No TV and no cell phone, those are features. Stayed two nights on a cold weekend in mid-January. What a great place. It is basic but very clean. They have fireplaces in the cabins, plus heat and... More

I say "camping" because you feel like you are camping, but it is SOOO much better. The cabins make the experience perfect! The grounds are great, surrounding nature is amazing, floating all day on the river....need I say more. Highly recommended. I am already planning for the next trip.

We were looking for a staycation and this was it. The rooms are very intersting nothing fancy no TV or phone or any service. This is a great place to get away from it all. They have really charming kitchens and include BBQ's. We swam all day, BBQed at night and watched a movie on our DVD player. It was... More

Boy am I happy that Big Bend is BACK! My husband and I spent a night there recently and were thrilled to meet the new managers, John and Joy, and to hear all about the new owners and their plans. Take everything the last few reviewers have said and double it, and please, take my word for it, there is... More

The new owners have really made this place shine. The cabins are comfortable and have all you need. The kitchen is fully stocked, each cabin has it's own grill and the place overflows with charm. We traveled up with our extended family and our dogs and had a most wonderful time. The lodge offers inter-tubes to float on the river... More

My family and I go to Big Bend Lodge every year. It has such special memories for me. It has been sold several times and now it is owned by 6 families that have been spending their vacations at the lodge for many years. They are working very hard to bring Big Bend Lodge back to what was, a truly... More

I've been coming to Big Bend Lodge for years, in fact, it has become a solid annual tradition in our family. My husband proposed to me on 'Fraidy Cat Beach and we even got married there (see picture)! The cabins are adorable and the proximity to the river can not be beat! It's the best place I've ever found to... More

We were so sad to leave Big Bend Lodge today. From intertubing down the Eel River to roasting marshmellows and telling stories around the nightly campfire, this was the perfect escape for my family from our hectic urban life. The facilities were kept up well, clean cabins with pergo floors, small kitchens, and a bedroom off the living space. The... More

What a delight...! I am so thrilled we had the chance to spend 3 days at Big Bend Lodge and can't wait to return. The cabins are really comfortable and clean. My kids had a super time between the river, ping pong, basketball, and visiting with the chickens!!!

Summer like it used to be. Big Bend Lodge is a small 1940’s resort that sits on an idyllic and completely private section of the South Fork of the Eel River in Northern Mendocino County. We have nine rustic cabins with full kitchens that can accommodate 4 to 5 people each and some of our cabins are dog friendly. A well-kept secret amongst California families and groups who've been coming to the lodge for decades, Big Bend Lodge strives to maintain the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of days gone by when the perfect vacation was floating on a river all day and then telling stories around a campfire at night. A wonderful place for children, Big Bend Lodge is also a perfect place for a group of adults to book for a completely private and relaxed get-away.*Under new ownership by six families who have been coming to the lodge for years.* ... more   less
