We enjoy long weekends in Mendocino 3 or 4 times every year, finding our way to this inn as our favorite spots were occupied by a visiting movie film crew. If B&B's were judged by their breakfasts alone, this would be among the Top 10. Especially the fresh fruit and fresh-baked scones, warm from the kitchen and regularly refreshed by... More

I cannot think of a more gracious welcome than that received last week from Becky, former chef at Cafe Beaujolais, and Nan, wine steward at Roederer's. Most B&b's in Mendocino seem to follow the late morning breakfast hour and JD House is no exception. But guests can enter the dining room at 8, pour coffee or tea, and read the... More

My husband and I are here for 3 nights. We are disappointed. Jacuzzi jets are almost non existent, no wifi in our room as advertised, and water in main house for tea is luke warm at best, and theres no microwave in sight. We come to Mendo every 4 months and have paid $112-$400/night. This is about in the middle... More

Visiting from London for the second time, our family knew what to expect from this beautiful house. Wonderful, comfortable rooms with great personal touches and everything perfect down to the Kiehls toiletries. We had two rooms, one in the garden and one overlooking the sea. our only disappointment was the welcome. An innkeeper should perhaps try to extend more of... More

We reserved a room in the sister hotel (the Packard House) and there was a minor problem with the room so they upgraded us to the Port room in this hotel, but still respecting services from the other one. They did every accommodation possible to make our trip an excellent experience. The manager is a lovely woman who also can... More

We chose to stop in Mendocino because I had read so many people raving about it. We found the whole town kind of depressing, with many places closed, or closing early. Just like the rest of the town, JD House felt a bit down-on-its-luck too. We stayed in the Watertower room, mostly because I thought it would be kind of... More

We visited here from the UK. Lovely little place with a beautiful garden to eat/ drink in. Sleepy pace, much like the town. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. A little different than your average food. My only recommendation would be to serve it a little earlier as it meant we couldn't quite make a trip to... More

Very disappointing at a very high cost $305. Breakfast was minimal. No tea/ coffee facilities. No hot drinks available between 6.30 pm to 8.00 am. Pictures on website do not show true reflection of property. Would not consider returning to this B&B

This was our second time staying at jd house, the first time we stayed in the water tower room which was very small & no tv. Our most recent stay was in the captains room, nice space with a large deck & fireplace but The bathroom really needs a remodel, very dated with bad lighting and the shortest tub I've... More

We took another road trip going north of San Fran through Nappa Valley towards Mendocino. We stayed at JD House's Water Tower. Very cute, an actual water tower that has been transformed into a room. Very romantic
