We have been traveling in this area and staying at the B&B's for about 9 years now. Barkley Homestead used to be fantastic! Now...We drove by a few weeks ago and seems as though it is closed...Not a big surprise.. My husband and I stayed there 2 years in a row for wine festival...I had stayed several times prior with... We have been going to this B&B since 2007 as we love the wine country, through 3 changes in managment. All of the people are very friendly. Location is great, breakfasts good and managment friendly. But rooms are dirty, lots of dust bunnies under the bed, no toilet paper, used soap bars and personal effects in bathroom. Loud party until... More

On a recent stay here and after dealing with the manager of this place - he really needs to take a management course. Would not recommend anyone to stay here or deal with him. By pass and stay elsewhere.

We felt ripped off. Do not spend more than $75 per room per night. Could have been much cleaner....sat on deck in chair full of cat hair...started sneezing...sat up and my pants where full of hair....lots of dog and cat hair in the main lodge along with plenty of dust....could be decent if they cleaned!! They charged $125 per room... More

The Barkley is a casual relaxing B&B with warm character and great people. Denise is so friendly and welcoming. Located in the foothills it is rustic and quiet. We always have a wonderful time when we visit.

For our yearly trip with my husband's brother and sister and their spouses we decided to go to the "Gold Country" and found in the Barkley Historic Homestead the perfect central location for our group. The Lakehouse which has 3 guest rooms gave us plenty of privacy for a family reunion. Each room has a private bath and entrance of... More

This is a great place. We stayed in the garden room, and were very pleased with room. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was cozy. There was a portable heater, down comforter, coffee maker, robe, wine glasses and opener. Breakfast was wonderful. We got eggs, bacon, sausage, breads and pastries, juice, coffee, and fruit. The owners were really... More

Our room at Barkley Homestead was not clean. The carpet and bedspread were stained. The backsplash of the bathtub had dried soap scum. The bottom outside of the shower stall had a fairly thick crust of dried mold framing the corner. My wife found some fresh looking blood stain on the bed sheets. The room furnishings were dusty, mismatched and... More

This B & B is located on 8320 Stoney Creek Rd, Fair Play, CA 95684. This B & B has recently been taken over by new owners. And they are very nice and gracious, and helpful. My husband and I were joined by 2 other couples to go wine tasting in this region, which is near Amador county. We love... More
